Week 5 Power Rankings

1. Green Bay Packers (LW: 2): After dropping down to No. 2; the Packers quickly regain the top of the rankings. The Packers have been the only – truly - consistent team this year.

2. New England Patriots (LW: 1): After falling apart to the Bills, the Patriots rebounded and had no problems with the Raiders. The Patriots have to be pleased with the resurgence of their running game, if they can keep it up, it will help Tom Brady out a ton.

3. New Orleans Saints (LW: 3): The Saints have been pretty consistent, but they are letting teams stick around for too long, and soon enough you’re going to slip.

4. Houston Texans (LW: 4): The Texans are one redzone touchdown away from being undefeated. It was good to see Arian Foster get back on track, but the injury to Andre Johnson has to be a concern.

5. Detroit Lions (LW: 12): I am placing them this high because they are undefeated, but don’t expect to comeback from 20 point deficits too often. If they are really going to emerge as a Super Bowl contender, then they will have to get going sooner and not rely on comebacks to win games.

6. Baltimore Ravens (LW: 13): I think the Ravens are a great team this year, but they are having a real problem with being consistent. If you remember, they killed the Steelers in week 1, then got killed by the Titans in week 2 and now they kill the Jets. This team has the talent to compete for a Super Bowl, but consistency is all that stands in their way.

7. Tennessee Titans (LW: 17): I’m really not sure what to think of the Titans, what a surprise! They have played sharp and are now tied for the division lead. Seattle fans have to be upset that they lost Hasselbeck.

8. Washington Redskins (LW: 14): I look at this team and do not see a ton of talent, but come Sunday they always play well; and now lead their division. Mike Shanahan has done a great job turning this team around.

9. San Diego Chargers (LW: 9): This team has a ton of talent, but if they want to keep in the lead of the AFC West; then they will need to clean up their mistakes.

10. Atlanta Falcons (LW: 6): They are winning, but most of their wins have come on last second scores, against mediocre teams. The Falcons have a chance to really dominate this year, but the offensive line will have to improve.

11. Chicago Bears (LW: 10): The Bears have shown me this year, that if, they run the ball, they can hang with any team in the league. The one problem…Mike Martz’s seems to always forget to run the ball, but when he did, they ran for over 200 yards last week.

12. Buffalo Bills (LW: 18): I still think this is a good team, but I predicted they would lose this game, for the reason that all young teams lose following a big win. I think they can bounce back next week and have a quality performance.

13. Dallas Cowboys (LW: 8): Like the Patriots did last week, the Cowboys did it this week, and that is…self-destruct. Tony Romo was having the game of his life in the first half, and then in the second half he throws 3 pick - all of which resulted in scores! If the Cowboys have any thought of competing for the division, they need to clean up the mistakes quickly!

14. Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 5): They totally fell apart against the Texans, and now they are banged up badly. Are the Steelers done? Have they gotten too old? I guess we will see, but it sure seems like it.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 15): Yes, they are winning games, but this team is nowhere near and good as they were last year. It took the entire game for the Buccaneers to finally take the lead and beat the Manning-less Colts.

16. New York Jets (LW: 7): I’m not ready to write off the Jets yet, because if you remember last year, the same thing happened and they played in the AFC championship game, so don’t panic Jets fans.

17. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 11): I think the Eagles have a make or break game this weekend, which will determine the result of the season. They had a 20 point lead and totally fell apart. The defense has to get better and Namidi has to play like he did before, he got his big contract.

18. New York Giants (LW: 16): They are winning, but I am not overly impressed with the Giants. It took injuring Vick, faking injuries themselves and a bad call. This team may be 3-1, but I have to see them flat out win a game.

19. San Francisco 49ers (LW: 20): This is another team that has a good record, but hasn’t proved anything to me. They did beat the Eagles, but that was on a wired collapse by Philadelphia. So as with the Giants, I have to see them win a quality game.

20. Oakland Raiders (LW: 21): I really thought OaklandOakland is slowly climbing out of the bottom tier teams in the league, but their not there yet.

21. Arizona Cardinals (LW: 25): I think this team has potential, but it will take a year or so for the team to gel and for the new acquisitions to get comfortable. Still, this team has been competitive, which it was not last year.

22. Carolina Panthers (LW: 22): It seems like every time Newton has a great stat day the Panthers lose, should they run the ball a little more? It did work against the Jaguars.

23. Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 27): I think this team has a lot of potential, but they are also very young and need some time to mature. It has been good to see the defense get back to form.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 29): Gabbert has looked impressive in his first two games, and this team is slowly improving, will it be enough to save Del Rio’s job? I guess we will see.

25. Miami Dolphins (LW: 23): Are the Dolphins trying to throw the season for Andrew Luck? It does seem like that, with the mediocre play of this, very talented, group of players.

26. Denver Broncos (LW: 26): After getting killed by the Titans and Packers in consecutive weeks, the Broncos are right back in the Andrew Luck race.

27. Indianapolis Colts (LW: 30): They are starting to get better, but the injuries are killing them. I think this team has to be the favorite to land Andrew Luck right now.

28. Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 31): They looked ok against San Diego, then pretty much dominated against Minnesota, will the Chiefs have a turn around? Or will they fall back into the Luck sweepstakes?

29. Cleveland Browns (LW: 28): This team has been hot and cold all season, and Colt McCoy needs to step it up now if, he doesn’t want to be Andrew Luck’s backup.

30. Seattle Seahawks (LW: 32): I thought for sure the Seahawks would throw the season just to get Luck, but suddenly they are playing better and giving some (pretty good) teams a hard time.

31. St. Louis Rams (LW: 19): This team has done nothing but disappoint this season. I had the Rams winning the division, but now it seems like they may be in the race for the first overall pick, although I doubt they’d take Luck.

32. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 24): Minnesota looked awful against a struggling Kansas City team. And now everyone is wondering, what it will take, for the Vikings to hand Christian Ponder the reigns.

Week 3 Power Rankings

1. New England Patriots (LW: 2): The Patriots offense looked brilliant again and the Chargers No. 1 ranked defense couldn’t do a thing to stop them. I think the Patriots have a bit on work to do on the defense, because they played weak at times.

2. Green Bay Packers (LW: 1): The Packers played Newton perfectly, let him get all the yards he wants, but just don’t let him score; they did exactly that forcing three picks. The Packers reign at the top of the standings only lasted two weeks, but all they need is the Patriots to slipup and they’ll take the top again.

3. New Orleans Saints (LW: 4): After a week 1 setback the Saints were clicking against the Bears and this team was able to show its true potential.

4. Houston Texans (LW: 5): I haven’t seem the Texans face a high quality opponent this year, but they have looked pretty sharp from so far and Wade Phillips defense is improving.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 12): After week one hiccups the Steelers came out angry and killed the Seahawks. The defense went from letting the Ravens score 35 points on them, to this week letting the Seahawks score 0.

6. Atlanta Falcons (LW: 11): A decent bounce-back week for the Falcons although without the Michael Vick injury and a dropped pass at the end of the game, the Falcons would have started the season 0-2.

7. New York Jets (LW: 9): They bounced back after a mediocre week and the defense played great, although I am still concerned that this team may be held back by the bad play of Mark Sanchez.

8. Dallas Cowboys (LW: 6): Tony Romo got the fourth quarter jitters out against the Jets and came back with a overtime game winning drive. I think if anything is wrong with this team, it is the sorry play of the Dallas receiver; they really need to step it up.

9. San Diego Chargers (LW: 10): The Chargers played a good game, but the Patriots flat out played a great one. The defense needs to improve on its pass defense and the Chargers have to cut down on the turnovers.

10. Chicago Bears (LW: 7): I still think this team is a playoff caliber team, but I think last week they played a Super Bowl caliber team and that was the difference.

11. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 8): How long will Michael Vick be out? Its hard to say, but they could really use Vince Young or Kevin Kolb right now.

12. Detroit Lions (LW: 13): They played a good game, but I wouldn’t give the Lions took much credit, the Bills also killed the Chiefs in week 1.

13. Baltimore Ravens (LW: 3): I am afraid this team was so build on beating the Steelers that by the time week two came around they were totally out of gas. They need to improve quickly because the Steelers are not going to wait for them to.

14. Washington Redskins (LW: 15): For a team everyone thought was a favorite to win the Andrew Luck race, they are doing really good, they are 2-0 and I think this team could be in shape to make a run for the playoffs.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 14): Tampa Bay did win this week, but they have looked very flat from so far. If this team is going to compete in a very competitive NFC South, then they need to step it up.

16. New York Giants (LW: 18): It was a nice redemption game, after they looked awful in week 1, can they keep it up? Also they need to send their defensive players to acting school, because they did a poor job.

17. Tennessee Titans (LW: 26): After an awful week 1 the Titans also had a good comeback game and put it on the Ravens. Hasselbeck’s play was better this week, which is a good sign for the Titans.

18. Buffalo Bills (LW: 17): Are the Bills for real? Well, that question will get answered very quickly with the Bills facing the Patriots this week. They have looked impressive so far, but can they beat a high quality team?

19. St. Louis Rams (LW: 16): This team didn’t look great this week and have had a flat start to the season, but in a weak NFC West division, no one is out of the race until after week 17.

20. San Francisco 49ers (LW: 21): People are going to start questioning the judgment of Jim Harbough after he had a chance to go up by 14 instead of 10 and as you know that decision didn’t work out well.

21. Oakland Raiders (LW: 20): After a sloppy week 1 the Raiders followed it up with an even sloppier week 2, after being up by that much you have to hold your lead and close out the game and the Raiders didn’t do that.

22. Carolina Panthers (LW: 25): Cam Newton may be getting yards but he still has no wins and had a 3 interception day against the Packers. The yards are nice, but touchdowns and wins are better.

23. Miami Dolphins (LW: 24): The Dolphins just can’t win at home and a team that I think has a talented core, can’t seem to put it together in Miami.

24. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 19): Well, it’s now been two weeks in a row that McNabb has cost the Vikings the game. He had a great first half and the Vikings were up by 17, but he couldn’t duplicate that in the second half and the Vikings lose another one.

25. Arizona Cardinals (LW: 23): I think this team is up and coming, but they have a bad pass defense right now and it is costing them games.

26. Denver Broncos (LW: 28): The Broncos get a win, which I don’t think helps much and now Tebow will have to wait a while longer before the stubborn John Fox will give him a chance.

27. Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 27): The Bengals couldn’t close out the game against the Broncos, but the team has promise and by the end of the season should be climbing up the rankings.

28. Cleveland Browns (LW: 30): The Browns flat out don’t have a lot of talent. They are a mediocre team and only won against a beat up Colts team. They need to step it up or Colt McCoy won’t have a chance to show what he can do.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 22): Well, Luke McCown didn’t last long and it looks like the Blaine Gabbert era is at hand. I think they should keep McCown in for a week or two more and then turn it over to Gabbert.

30. Indianapolis Colts (LW: 31): They are now 0-2 and they don’t look like they are going to win too many this year. There is now, officially, 3 team that look like the favorites to land Andrew Luck and the Colts are one of them.

31. Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 29): The Chiefs totally fell apart this season and now the information has come out that Jamaal Charles is out for the season, can it get much worse for the Chiefs? Well…yes that is if Seattle wins less games then the Chiefs and the Chiefs miss out on Andrew Luck. But, as of now with the tough schedule they have, the Chiefs look like the favorites to land Andrew Luck, plus it looks like Todd Haley could be out the door as well.

32. Seattle Seahawks (LW: 32): Seattle looked bad against the Steelers and Tavaris Jackson has looked awful. Are the Seahawks intentionally throwing the season, so they can get Andrew Luck?

Week 2 Predictions

Week 2 Power Rankings

1. Green Bay Packers (LW: 1): I think after Thursday night’s game people can start forgetting about the Packers having a possible Super Bowl hangover.

2. New England Patriots (LW: 2): If it wasn’t for Green Bay playing a better opponent then New England, the Patriots would have been No. 1 on my list. Brady looked great and that offense is going to be hard to stop

3. Baltimore Ravens (LW: 9): The Ravens showed that they are ready to surpass the Steelers and to become the leader of the AFC North, will that continue through the season?

4. New Orleans Saints (LW: 7): The Saints offense played a great game, but their defense couldn’t stop Aaron Rodgers. I think Greg Williams is going to have to get his defense back on track if they are going to far well in a division full of good QB’s.

5. Houston Texans (LW: 12): They totally took the Manning less Colts apart. They did have Kerry Collins at QB, but that defense flat out shutdown the Colts. Is this the year for the Texans?

6. Dallas Cowboys (LW: 13): They may have lost but they looked sharp in their last minute loss to NY. I think the Jets were running off a lot of emotion so don’t under estimate what this Dallas team in capable of. Tony Romo tore apart the Jets D in the first half and for a guy that has been out for an entire year he looked sharp.

7. Chicago Bears (LW: 15): Well, I had no trust in the Bears and they proved me wrong. I did pick Chicago to win the game, but not blow out my No. 3 ranked Falcons. If the offense line and Jay Cutler can stay sharp, watch out.

8. Philadelphia Eagles (LW: 6): I thought they looked ok, but they didn’t take over the game till both Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson left the game. The defense (when Bradford was in) looked bad and they couldn’t stop Steven Jackson. A win is a win, but they need to protect Vick better, or he won’t be there for long.

9. New York Jets (LW: 8): Yeah, they won, but I wasn’t impressed. It was the same last second win that they had all of last season and all of the season before. If they are going to go to the Super Bowl they are going to need to save their energy and not waste it every week trying to squeak out a win.

10. San Diego Chargers (LW: 5): They got the job done, but if they are looking to try for the Super bowl, they are going to have to play sharper then that.

11. Atlanta Falcons (LW: 4): A poor start for a team that I thought was going to take the next step this year. Matt Ryan looked bad and the rest of the team didn’t perform either. Will they be able to get their act together next week for Michael Vick’s homecoming.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers (LW: 3): Well, people said their age wouldn’t affect them and I guess we were wrong. The Steelers looked really flat and they need to rebound quickly or the Ravens are going to get too much of a head start.

13. Detroit Lions (LW: 14): They looked solid against a good Buccaneers team and that defense has definitely improved.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (LW: 11): This is another young team I thought was ready to take the next step, but the Lions are becoming one of the feared teams in the NFL. The team needs to step it up to stay competitive in a tough NFC South.

15. Washington Redskins (LW: 25): For a team that I thought was in the Andrew Luck race, they did pretty good. Rex Grossman looks like he could have a solid year and the defense looked solid too.

16. St. Louis Rams (LW: 18): Take away the injury to Steven Jackson and Sam Bradford and I think the Rams would have been able to beat the Eagles. This team is for real and from what I saw in week one, they are the front runners to win the division.

17. Buffalo Bills (LW: 27): Are the Bills this good, or are the Chiefs just that bad? We’ll see, but one guy that looked great was Ryan Fitzpatrick with 4 TD passes, this is the reason Buffalo passed on a QB in the draft.

18. New York Giants (LW: 17): Well, I didn’t expect the Giants to do as well as everyone else said they would, but I didn’t think they’d get handed by Washington that easy. They need to find someone to help that defense, or this team is in for a long season.

19. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 19): Besides the play of Donovan McNabb, this team looked great. The question will now be if McNabb can step up his game or if you start rookie Christian Ponder.

20. Oakland Raiders (LW: 21): The Raiders may have won, but only because they have a kicker that has a crazy strong leg. If this team is going to make the playoffs, cutting down on the penalties is a must.

21. San Francisco 49ers (LW: 23): They looked ok, but Ted Ginn saved the day and I just wasn’t overly impressed with the 49ers.

22. Jacksonville Jaguars (LW: 22): Well, the first game without David Garrard and the Jaguars are 1-0, can they keep it up? No one knows, but they need to get Jones-Drew healed quickly if they want to be a contender for a very weak division.

23. Arizona Cardinals (LW: 24): The offense looked good, but as a defense you can’t give up 400 plus yards to a rookie QB who isn’t very good at passing. They need to get their defense in order, but they do come out of week one with a win.

24. Miami Dolphins (LW: 26): Chad Henne and the offense did their part, but that defense couldn’t stop Tom Brady, the nice thing is, they only have to face him one more time this year.

25. Carolina Panthers (LW: 28): Newton looked good in his debut, but they need to get the running game going if that is going to keep up.

26. Tennessee Titans (LW: 20): The team looked flat to start the game and by the time they had regrouped it was too late. They need this offense to get back on track, because Jacksonville isn’t quite what you’d call a tough defense.

27. Cincinnati Bengals (LW: 29): They did win, but only because Cleveland played awful. It was not good to see Andy Dalton go down in his first game, but with a guy like Gradkowki as a back up, the Bengals aren’t in bad shape.

28. Denver Broncos (LW: 30): John Fox is doing it again with super conservative game planning and the Denver crowds are already tired of it. When will they try Tebow? Who knows.

29. Kansas City Chiefs (LW: 16): Kansas City totally collapsed and they lost their best player in Eric Berry for the season. Todd Haley needs to get his team in order, or they might be in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes as well.

30. Cleveland Browns (LW: 31): They came close, but the Browns still don’t have the fire power for Colt McCoy to have success. I think passing on Julio Jones was a big mistake and now in late game situations McCoy has no one to throw to.

31. Indianapolis Colts (LW: 10): Without Peyton this team looks like the 0-16 Lions, they are defiantly in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Will Luck be the successor to Peyton? They are compared to each other all the time.

32. Seattle Seahawks (LW: 32): I predicted a possible 0-16 season for the Seahawks and from Sunday’s game I don’t think that is out of the question. Will Pete Carroll pick the highly valued Andrew Luck, or go for his old player Matt Barkley?

Week 1 2012 Mock Draft

Here is my first mock draft for next year’s draft. I have the Seahawks finishing last in the League with a 2-14 record and then landing the highly prized QB out of Stanford's Andrew Luck. I think people need to watch out, because if Landry Jones has a Heisman season and brings the National Championship trophy to Norman, then he could very well dethrone Luck as the top QB prospect. I also think there is a good chance Matt Barkley stays in college for his senior year, taking him off the draft boards.

Playoff Prediction

Here is my early prediction of what will happen in the playoffs. The team that are in the playoffs are according to my post where I predicted each team's records. I picked the Eagles and Steelers to play in the Super Bowl (with the Steelers winning that game), although I don’t think the Eagles are an particularly good team, I think the teams they face in the playoffs aren’t built to stop the Eagles and that is why a team that isn’t the best in the conference still wins it. I think the same goes for the Steelers, I think the Patriots are by far the best team in the AFC, but I think the Ravens are set up perfectly to beat the Patriots, so that saves the Steelers from having to face the Patriots. I think Patriots could beat the Steelers while they can’t beat the Ravens, but the Ravens can’t be the Steelers. So it is all about who you play in the playoffs and if you are a team that has the pieces to be able to beat the other team's pieces.

Prediction of each Teams records

Here is my prediction for each team’s record according to the strength of their schedules. Some of these teams I think are much better then their records suggest, but other are worse. For example, I think the Cowboys are a good team, but not a 12-4 team, but since they benefit from a weak schedule, they will look better than they really are and the same goes for the Titans. Also, my prediction that the Colts would go 8-8 is based on the fact that Peyton Manning will most likely be out for the first couple weeks.

Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton/QB/Auburn/Grade: C: I think the only good thing that can come out of picking Newton is giving the Panthers a little more popularity and creating a bigger fan base, but beside that using the No. 1 overall pick on a developmental player is not what you want to do. You usually want to pick a player that is considered a sure thing, and Newton is anything but that. There is a chance for high reward with this pick, but the risks highly out weigh the reward.

2. Denver Broncos: Von Miller/LB/Texas A&M/Grade: B-: This was a good pick but as with Newton, there is a risk as well. The Broncos are asking a defensive lineman to play linebacker in a 4-3 scheme. I personally think Miller was one of the top three players in the draft, but he fits the 3-4 outside linebacker mold much better then the 4-3 linebacker. Hopefully John Fox will be able to put a package together for him, but I personally would have taken a 4-3 defensive lineman like Marcell Dareus or Robert Quinn.

3. Buffalo Bills: Marcell Dareus/DT/Alabama/Grade: B: I think Dareus is an excellent player, but not the impact player the Bills needed. I think Dareus could be a force in a 4-3 defense, but in a 3-4 I believe he will be good, but not an impact player. It is a pity Denver and Buffalo couldn’t have switched picks because I think both of these guys would have had a chance at rookie of the year in a different type of defense.

4. Cincinnati Bengals: A. J. Green/WR/Georgia/Grade: A: Finally the Bengals get a sure thing in Green, after picking the most risky players in each of the last couple of drafts. With the drafting of Dalton in the second, I think the Bengals pretty much said that the Palmer, Owens and Ocho show is leaving town. I personally had Green as the top prospect in the country and the Bengals did well to snag a Super Star with this pick.

5. Arizona Cardinals: Patrick Peterson/CB/LSU/Grade: B-: I think Peterson is a GREAT player, but still the Cardinals came out of the draft with all the needs they went into the draft with, unanswered. I think picking Gabbert here would have been a better pick, and if not Gabbert, maybe trade down a couple of spots and stock up some picks, because this team has lots holes and Peterson didn’t help to fill any.

6. Atlanta Falcons (From: Cleveland): Julio Jones/WR/Alabama/Grade: C+: I think this was a bad trade from both sides. Cleveland did get a ton of picks to be able to build their franchise, but if the Falcons do well the 1^st round pick they gave them for next year will be like a 2^nd round pick and they missed out on Julio Jones who could have given Colt McCoy some much needed tools. From Atlanta’s point of view they gave up a ton of stuff and in the end they got Rodney White the second. They needed a deep threat which they could have gotten in Torrey Smith and he would have been there in the late first. I think Jones will be a great player and all, but they already have White and now all you have is two Rodney White’s on the field, which isn’t a bad thing, but they still don’t have a great deep threat receiver and I personally would have gotten an upgrade for a fast deteriorating defensive line.

7. San Francisco 49ers: Aldon Smith/OLB/Missouri/Grade: B: Don’t get me wrong I love Smith and think he has the most upside and potential of any pass rusher in the draft, but Gabbert just fell in your lap and it is clear Alex Smith isn’t the future. But besides form Gabbert I believe Smith will be able to be a face of the defense type player. He only played two years in college and he already dominated, he can do nothing else but improve. I think Gabbert should have been the pick here, but I think they did get the defensive player with the best potential and that can’t be considered a bad thing.

8. Tennessee Titans: Jake Locker/QB/Washington/Grade: B-: I think it was a major mistake to pass on Gabbert here, for Locker who has a ton of question. I think Gabbert would have taken this team to the Super Bowl and it seemed to be built perfectly for him. But, at the same time I am still giving them a B- because I also believe, if any team can get Locker to succeed, it would be the Titans. Watch out, in a couple of years we could have a new rivalry with Gabbert playing the team who passed on him twice a year and Locker getting to try to prove he was the right choice.

9. Dallas Cowboys: Tyron Smith/OT/USC/Grade: B: I think Smith was the right pick, but with Gabbert on the board why not trade down and get a ton from a team that desperately needs a QB and then Smith would still have been available in the 11-15 range. But, besides that they needed someone to protect Romo and now they have him.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars (From: Washington): Blaine Gabbert/QB/Missouri/Grade: B+: I think it was a major mistake for the Skins to pass on Gabbert with the HUGE hole they have at QB, but for the Jaguars’ they have their QB of the future and something for the fan base to get excited about and if that fan base isn’t Jacksonville in a couple of years, it will give another fan base someone to believe in. I think the Jaguars did well to get a QB in a division with Peyton Manning, Matt Schaub and newly drafted Jake Locker. If Locker pans out nicely, then this could be one of the best QB divisions. Also I like this pick because they won’t have to rush Gabbert into being the starter and he can sit and learn behind Garrard, look at Green Bay, it worked out pretty well for them.

11. Houston Texans: J. J. Watt/DE/Wisconsin/Grade: B: I thought picking Watt was a nice way to start building Wade Phillips 3-4 defense, but I though they needed an outside linebacker or a corner, who could impact the defense more then the defensive line could. Still it is known that you build a defense from the line out, so maybe it isn’t too bad of a pick.

12. Minnesota Vikings: Christian Ponder/QB/Florida State/Grade: C-: Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Ponder is a bad player, but he defiantly isn’t an early first round pick and probably not a first round pick period. I think the Vikings got nervous and picked a player that they could have gotten way later in the draft.

13. Detroit Lions: Nick Fairley/DT/Auburn/Grade: C+: I think they got good value here with Fairley falling this far, but they already have Ndamukong Suh and multiple other defensive lineman that are pretty good. I think Amukamara should have been the pick here and if not him I would have gotten Robert Quinn, who could fill a position of need. I think they needed help at DE and CB and there were two good players at that position where they picked and they passed on both. In a good light, I think teams will have a terrible time going to Detroit and trying to run up the middle.

14. St. Louis Rams: Robert Quinn/DE/North Carolina/Grade: A-: They got a potential No. 1 overall pick with the 14^th pick of the draft, which is pretty nice. I personally would have taken Amukamara with this pick since Chris Long is staring to turn into a force and the Rams have a need a DB, but everyone knows how Steve Spagnola loves to load up on defensive lineman and it worked in New York.

15. Miami Dolphins: Mike Pouncey/OL/Florida/Grade: C+: I like Pouncey, but I think he was overrated because of his brothers success and for an interior offensive lineman to be taken No. 15 overall is kind of high. I think the Dolphins really needed a playmaker on either side of the ball and they didn’t get that.

16. Washington Redskins (from: Jacksonville): Ryan Kerrigan/OLB/Purdue/Grade: B-: I think getting Kerrigan was a good move, but drafting Gabbert would have been a great move. They now have another much needed impact player on defense, but they have absolutely no one on offense. I think Shanahan could have turned Gabbert into a star, but with them passing on him, don’t be surprised if this team picks No. 1 overall next year.

17. New England Patriots (from: Oakland): Nate Solder/OT/Colorado/Grade: B: Maybe Bill Belicheck sees a future Matt Light in Solder so I won’t question him. Still, they need defense help and didn’t get any in this draft.

18. San Diego Chargers: Corey Liuget/DT/Illinois/Grade: B: This was a decent pick, but with Cam Jordon still on the board I think they should have gone with someone who already was used to using the 3-4.

19. New York Giants: Prince Amukamara/CB/Nebraska/Grade: C+: I really liked Amukamara, but they already have 3 good corners and if they don’t want Eli to have another year like last year, then they need to get him some guys to protect him. As I said, I like Amukamara, but they needed Offensive linemen and they didn’t get any.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Adrian Clayborn/DE/Iowa/Grade: B: I really liked Clayborn as a player and think he could be a great NFL player. I think he is a high risk health wise, but the late first round is usually when people take a chance on guys. The Buccaneers addressed their interior defensive line last year and then they addressed the exterior this year. I think people need to watch out for Tampa, because this team is loaded.

21. Cleveland Browns (From: Kansas City): Phil Taylor/NT/Baylor/Grade: B-: I still think Cleveland should have gotten a receiver to help Colt McCoy out, but Taylor is still a good pick and will be a nice build block for the Browns.

22. Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Castonzo/OT/Boston College/Grade: B+: The Colts needed an offensive lineman and the most pro ready “O” lineman fell right into their lap. Castonzo is just the player Peyton needed and is just the player Eli wanted, Castonzo is super versatile and if he doesn’t work at tackle then he can move to guard. This was all around a solid pick for the Colts.

23. Philadelphia Eagles: Danny Watkins/OL/Baylor/Grade: B+: The Eagles needed a pro ready offensive lineman, much like the Colts and they got exactly what Vick ordered. I think it was a good draft for the Eagles and Watkins better be ready to step in and protect Vick right away.

24. New Orleans Saints: Mark Ingram/RB/Alabama/Grade: B: I didn’t think this was a bad pick, but it wasn’t great either. The Saints now have two Heisman trophy runningbacks on their roster and I think if Ingram is going to play at all, then they will need to get rid of Thomas or Bush. I think Ingram will be better then expected and the Saints got good value at 24.

25. Seattle Seahawks: James Carpenter/OT/Alabama/Grade: C: I think Carpenter is an underrated player, but he isn’t a first round pick. I think the Seahawks stretched here and they could have moved back into the 2^nd round and still got their guy. I think it is good to see Carroll building this awful “O” line, but they reached big time.

26. Kansas City Chiefs (From: Cleveland/Atlanta/Baltimore):

Jon Baldwin/WR/Pittsburgh/Grade: B: As with the Ravens, the Chiefs got great value at 26 and take care of off field problems and you have the most talented wide receiver in the draft. I think the Kansas City offense just got much better with young guys in Charles, Bowe, McCluster, Moeaki and now Baldwin; this offense will be hard to stop.

27. Baltimore Ravens: Jimmy Smith/CB/Colorado/Grade: B+: This guy does have a bunch of risk, but in the late first round this was a great value. Smith does have off the field issues, but take care of those and you have an elite corner picked at 26.

28. New Orleans Saints (From: New England): Cam Jordon/DE/California/Grade: B+: I think this will be a Clay Matthews like mistake for the Patriots; they had a player that would fill a big need in Jordon and just passed on him. The Saints are now loaded and the player they will be able to get with the Saints pick next year won’t be as good as Jordon. The Patriots almost of a steal, but then traded it away.

29. New York Jets: Muhammad Wilkerson/DE/Temple/Grade: B: The Jets needed a pass rush and they will hope Wilkerson can clog the middle enough so that they can get some more presser.

30. Chicago Bears: Gabe Carimi/OT/Wisconsin/Grade: B+: They needed an offensive lineman and thankfully one slipped down to them. Jay Cutler was crushed last year and if they don’t want a rerun of him getting hurt in the NFC Championship game, then they needed to get someone to protect him.

31. Pittsburgh Steelers: Cam Heyward/DE/Ohio State/Grade: C-: I think Heyward is an underrated player and I think he will do well in the NFL, but they had huge holes on the offensive line and in the defensive backfield and then they go out and get a pass rusher when they are already loaded. It is true the “D” line is getting old, but at least there is someone who is good playing the position, on the offensive line they don’t have much and they are totally empty at corner. Don’t know what they will do to fill those holes, but they certainly didn’t fill them in the draft.

32. Green Bay Packers: Derrek Sherrod/OT/Mississippi State/Grade: B: I wasn’t crazy about this pick, but it never hurts to make sure your QB is well protected. Sherrod played in a conference with strong defenses so he will be well prepared for the NFL.

Power Rankings:

Green Bay Packers: I picked them to go to the Super Bowl before the season and I think they have a good chance to repeat this year. They have a ton of impact players coming back from injury, so this squad can only get better. I think now that Rodgers has tasted success I develop into one of the top 3 Quarterbacks in the league and I think he will start to dominate defenses as Brady and Manning do.

San Diego Chargers: I think after a disappointing season the Chargers will be out to prove something and I think Phillip Rivers will prove that he belongs in the conversation with Brady and Manning as the best QB in the NFL. They get Jackson back this year and I think a change at coordinators on defense might help them out as well. I think this team is much like the Packers a couple of years ago and is just waiting to burst on the scene.

New Orleans Saints: They added more weapons for Drew Brees and they strengthened the defense as well. I personally think that Saints team will be better then the 2009 Super Bowl squad. They got steals in the draft and got a couple of key free agents.

Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers are coming back with full strength and I think they aren’t happy with the ending of last season. I think the Steelers proved last year that you can never count them out and I think they will be back at it this year.

New York Jets: Rex Ryan better win the Super Bowl this year or he will be the laughing stock of the league. The Jets added some good players, but their key job will be to keep Holmes and Edwards, now that they have chemistry with Sanchez.

Atlanta Falcons: They added more weapons for Matt Ryan this year, but failed to upgrade their defense, let’s see if that will turn out to be a smart move or not. I think Ryan now has the tools to make this offense scary and this is the time for him to step up and show he is one of the elite QB’s in the league.

New England Patriots: I think they got too caught up with trying to stock pile picks next year and didn’t improve the team much. I think it was a bad idea to not give this team some more young players and I think Belechick’s luck can only go so far.

Dallas Cowboys: I think this could be the year the Cowboys finally show the huge amount of talent they have. I think Tony Romo will be out to prove something and I think this whole team feels embarrassed and are out to win peoples respect back.

Baltimore Ravens: Flacco needs to step up this year and carry this team. The defense is getting older and Flacco needs to take hold of this offense and carry the team this year. The Ravens are getting older and the window of opportunity is getting smaller.

Philadelphia Eagles: Teams started to find Vick’s week spots towards the end of last season and Vick better hope he can play better then he did in the playoffs. This isn’t an easy division anymore with Dallas on the move.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: I think the Buccaneers started to get it rolling at the end of last season and Josh Freeman is making those plays that the big guys make. The Buccaneers were able to finish rebuilding the defensive line in the draft and now have to hope they can pick up a couple of free agents to help out on defense. If the Buccaneers are able to get a big free agent like Asomougha they could be pushing for the Super Bowl and not just the playoffs.

Indianapolis Colts: I think the Colts are starting to run out of steam and Peyton Manning can’t do it all alone. The offensive line was terrible and the defense wasn’t to impressive either. They will need to hope the team can make big strides in the offseason, or Peyton Manning may not be playing in January.

Kansas City Chiefs: I think if Matt Cassel is able to come out this year and be able to create a big passing attack, this Chiefs squad could be really dangerous. The Chiefs added some impact players in the draft and now their offense is loaded. The defense will have a year of Romeo Crennel’s defense under their belt and expect the defense to only improve.

San Francisco 49ers: With new coach Jim Harbaugh in town expect this team to finally start showing their true potential and if he can get Alex Smith going, this team could be very good.

Houston Texans: Now that the Texans have a good running game and have Owen Daniels back from injury, expect this offense to be good. I think this team has a real chance at the division. I think Wade Phillips will be able to build a good enough defense to be able to win games and this Texans team could finally start showing life.

New York Giants: Eli needs to bounce back this year and the defense needs to step up. It would be great for the Giants to be able to pick up a couple of free agents to help out and then maybe they can be in position the try to make a run at the division.

Chicago

St. Louis Rams: This is a team that if Josh McDaniel’s can get that offense rolling, can take the division by storm. Bradford looks like the next great passer and everyone knows how good McDaniel’s is at bringing the best out of Quarterbacks.

Detroit Lions: This is another team that if Stafford can come out and play well, can be a real force and have a good shot at the playoffs. They have a awesome defensive line and defensive rookie of the year Ndamukong Suh can only get better.

Oakland Raiders: The Raiders have one of the most talented young teams out there, but I still question Jason Campbell at QB. I think the defense could be dominate, but the offensive line is worse then last year and I think Campbell has done as well as he is going to do.

Minnesota Vikings: I think this could be a sleeper team. The do have Adrian Peterson to carry the offense and they have a strong defense. If Christian Ponder can just play halfway descent, then this team could do something’s.

Jacksonville Jaguars: I think this is a team on the rise, but I think they need a couple of more years to develop. I think David Garrard won’t be able to repeat his performance from last year and I think there is a good chance we could see rookie QB Blaine Gabbert on the field toward the end of the season.

Arizona Cardinals: If they land a descent QB, which is highly likely, they could be an descent team next year. I think they will be able to strengthen their defense, but they need Beanie Wells to be an impact player this year.

Miami Dolphins: If Chad Henne goes out there and tares it up then maybe the Dolphins will have a chance, but without a running game I think this team will be one dimensional and defenses can shut them down.

Denver Broncos: If Tim Tebow can inspire his teammates, as he did last season, we may have a sleeper team here. I still don’t expect them to be a playoff team or something, but I do think this could be a 500. team

Cincinnati Bengals: It all maters whether Dalton players well or not. If he does this could be one of many sleeper teams this year. I think Zimmer will be able to get his defense back on track and without the distractions of the Circus (that would be Owens and Ocho) in town; the Bengals might be able to win a bit of games.

Tennessee Titans: It all maters who starts at QB. I think Collins will start the season off, but if they are able to get a better veteran QB via free agency or trade, this team could be able to make some noise.

Carolina Panthers: Whether it is Cam Newton or Jimmy Clausen I think this team will rely off their running game with two young quarterbacks under center. Expect Ron Rivera to get the most out of this team and don’t be surprised if they are able to get 6 or 7 wins.

Buffalo Bills: I think Ryan Fitzpatrick is a good Quarterback, but I think the luck they had last year will run out and we will be able to continue to see the Bills team we have watched the last couple of years.

Cleveland Browns: This team has some sleeper to them as well and it will all be up to how well Colt McCoy can play. This team has some talent, but it is also very young and not very experienced.

Seattle Seahawks: I think the Seahawks were one of the worse playoff teams in recent history and I think they will prove that this season. They lack impact players and if they can’t get Hasselbeck to return, their season could be a mess.

Washington Redskins: I they are one of the worse teams offensively, I’ve seen in a while. They had Blaine Gabbert fall into their lap and then traded the pick. I have high doubts that John Beck will be able to carry this team and don’t be surprised if this is a 0-16 season for the Redskins. They have no talent on offense, but if they do as bad as I think, they will be able to get one of the best QB prospects coming out of college in Andrew Luck in next years draft.

Pick No. 1: Panthers: Cam Newton/QB/Auburn

I am personally not a Newton fan but short term this would help the Panthers exposure and sell a lot of tickets and jerseys. You would have people coming from all over the country to watch the Heisman Quarterback play.

Pick No. 2: Broncos: Marcell Dareus/DT/Alabama

John Fox likes to build his D by starting with the D-Line. Although there is a chance they go Fairley I think his Fairley’s one year wonder status will make them lean towards Dareus.

Pick No. 3: Bills: Von Miller/OLB/Texas A&M

I personally think the Bills should go offense but every mock draft I see has Miller to the Bills who would make a nice fit.

Pick No. 4: Bengals: A.J. Green/WR/Georgia

With the loss of T.O and the possible loss of Ochocinco the Bengals will be empty at WR. Green is the safest player in the Top 10. I think Green will bring that spark that was missing in the Bengals offense last year. Although Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert is a possible hear.

Pick No. 5: Cardinals: Blaine Gabbert/QB/Missouri

The Cardinals attempts to replace Kurt Warner failed last year and Fitzgerald basically said he is gone unless they get a Quarterback. Gabbert has a lot of potential and won’t have to change a whole lot since he came from the spread in college.

Pick No. 6: Browns: Robert Quinn/DE/North Carolina

Whatever the Browns move to 4-3 or 3-4 Quinn will be able to play in either one of them. Quinn’s stock would probably higher but he had the suspension in 2010 so he could fall a little further but his multi purpose play will tempt the Browns.

Pick No. 7: 49ers: Patrick Peterson/CB/LSU

Peterson could fall further because there are some Questions about his CB ability but I think the 49ers take the chance and get on him.

Pick No. 8: Titans: Nick Fairley/DT/Auburn

Because of his one year wonder status he could fall further but the Titans are still trying to replace Haynesworth and there isn’t another D-Lineman at this position unless the trade back.

Pick No. 9: Cowboys: Anthony Castonzo/OL/Boston College

It will either be Castonzo or Smith and I think it will be Castonzo mainly because he can play multiple spots on the O-Line.

Pick No. 10: Redskins: Julio Jones/WR/Alabama

Jones really impressed scouts with his combine workout and Redskins really need a WR.

Pick No. 11: Texans: Aldon Smith/DE/Missouri

The Texans will either use a 4-3 or 3-4 and Smith can play either one and Wade Philips would like to have a remake of Demarcus Ware.

Pick No. 12: Vikings: Da’Quan Bowers/DE/Clemson

With the possible loss of Ray Edwards and the Williams brothers the D-Line will be very weak. Bowers has a lot of talent and for a while was projected to be the No. 1 pick so Bowers at no. 12 would be a steal for the Vikings.

Pick No. 13: Lions: Prince Amukamara/CB/Nebraska

Amukamara’s Senior year was bad compared to his Junior year so there are a lot of questions about him being a one year wonder but I think the Lions will look past that and get a second consecutive Nebraska player in the 1st round.

Pick No. 14: Rams: Ryan Kerrigan/DE/Purdue

The Lions need a WR but if Smith and Green are gone they really need to upgrade the D-Line and Kerrigan shows a lot of potential in a both 4-3 and 3-4 schemes.

Pick No. 15: Dolphins: Ryan Mallet/QB/Arkansas

Although Mallet has Character issues I think the Dolphins make a reach and get the best arm in the Draft and finally get a QB.

Pick No. 16: Jaguars: Cameron Jordan/DE/California

The Jaguars are working on rebuilding the D-Line and Jordan would make a nice duo with Tyson Alualu.

Pick No. 17: Patriots: Tyron Smith/OT/USC

If Cameron Jordan would slip to them I think they would draft him but if Smith is still there at No. 17 it would be to tempting to grab him.

Pick No. 18.: Chargers: J.J. Watt/DE/Wisconsin

The loss of Jamal Williams had a lot bigger impact than the chargers expected. So I think they will be looking DL here and Watt is the best DL player available at No. 18.

Pick No. 19: Giants: Mike Pouncey/OL/Florida

The once great O-Line of the Giants is really getting old they really need some new faces and Pouncey can play multiple spots on the O-Line.

Pick No. 20: Buccanneers: Adrian Clayborn/DL/Iowa

McCoy won’t be able to do it by himself and Clayborn was projected to be a Top 10 pick last year till his senior year when his numbers began to slip but he still is a very good player.

Pick No. 21: Chiefs: Gabe Carimi/OL/Wisconsin

Although the sensible pick would be DL I think the Chiefs will improve the O-Line which because they are a run first team they really need a good O-Line.

Pick No. 22: Colts: Nate Soldier/OL/Colorado

The Colts were reminded last year how important it is to have a good O-Line when Manning had a lot of trouble in the pocket. Soldier is the only O-Line who can play LT which Indy is highly in need of.

Pick No. 23: Eagles: Jimmy Smith/CB/Colorado

Although he has character issues I think the Eagles will look past that and get a good CB to play opposite to Samuel.

Pick No. 24: Saints: Mark Ingram/RB/Alabama

Although Ayers is a possibility the Saints were without a RB last year. Ingram would be a nice pick at No. 24 and would fill that missing piece in the Saints Offense.

Pick No. 25: Seattle: Jake Locker/QB/Washington

Locker has great potential if he can work on his accuracy issues and the Seahawks are going to need someone to replace Hasselback.

Pick No. 26: Ravens: Torrey Smith/WR/Maryland

Smith’s Speed is the missing part of the Ravens offense and he and Bolden would make a nice duo.

Pick No. 27: Falcons: Marvin Austin/DL/North Carolina

The Falcons really need to work on the DL and drafting Austin would be a start.

Pick No. 28: Patriots: Justin Houston/OLB/Georgia

Mayo won’t be able to play all four positions at LB himself so I think the pats will draft Houston to give him some help Although Ayers is a possibility.

Pick No. 29: Jets: Cam Heyward/DL/Ohio State

The loss of Kris Jenkins in week 1 really set the Jets Defense back and besides Jenkins the DL is empty. So I think they add to the DL with Heyward who is the best Defensive lineman at that position.

Pick No. 30: Bears: Corey Liuget/DT/Illinois

The DT position for the Bears is weak and Peppers needs somebody to help him out on the D-Line.

Pick No. 31: Steelers: Aaron Williams/DB/Texas

The Steelers could draft Derek Sherrod here but I think CB is a more important problem. Williams will be able to fill that spot in Pittsburgh.

Pick No. 32: Packers: Akeem Ayers/OLB/UCLA

The Packers could go O-Line but they need someone to put opposite to Clay Matthews.

The NFL Draft is now only a week away, so I wanted to talk about a couple of topics concerning it.

The Broncos have been interviewing most of the QB’s that will be considered in the 1st to 2nd round. People are now starting to wonder if they will pick a Quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick. I think there is a possibility that Denver could although I think they should stick with Tebow. My theory is that if they let Tebow start this year and he fails then the Broncos can get Andrew Luck next year, who Elway originally wanted. If he succeeds then they have a franchise. Another option I think would be smart to do is trade down to either the 49ers or Titans pick (since both is interested in drafting Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert, who will most likely not get to their picks), that way they could pick up a couple of extra picks and still could probably get either Dareus or Fairley.

I think the Panthers probably pick Newton with the No. 1 overall pick. I personally don’t think Newton has the tools or character to become a franchise QB, but I think the Panthers will take the chance, because if he does do well they have a franchise QB and if he doesn’t, he still sells a lot of jerseys and give the Panthers needed exposure.

Someone most haven’t been talking a ton about is Blaine Gabbert. Most think he will be a top 5 pick but their still isn’t much buzz about him. I think Gabbert has the best work ethic of any other QB in this draft, while I think accuracy wise he is second behind Ryan Mallet. Of all the QB’s in this class I think he has one of the top 3 strongest arms and he doesn’t have character issues, which helps since most of the QB’s that are better in other areas have major question marks when it comes to character. I personally would take Gabbert in the 5-15 range, but I still think he is the best QB in the draft class and I wouldn’t take any of the other QB’s higher then the 15th pick. I think the main problem for Gabbert will be being accurate deep which, given the right coach, I think he can fix.

Here is my updated top QB’s in this class

1. Gabbert: Good arm strength, good accuracy, great character, great work ethic, good potential and played in a spread offense.

2. Mallet: Great arm strength, great accuracy, bad character, decent work ethic, great potential and played in a pro style offense.

3. Ponder: Decent arm strength, good accuracy, good character, good work ethic, good potential and played in a pro style offense.

4. Newton: Good arm strength, bad accuracy, bad character, decent work ethic, great potential and played in a spread offense.

5. Locker: Great arm strength, bad accuracy, great character, great work ethic, great potential and played in a pro style offense.

6. Dalton: Good arm strength, good accuracy, good character, good work ethic, good potential and played in a Spread/Pro Style offense.

7. Kapernick: Great arm strength, decent accuracy, good character, great work ethic, great potential and played in a pistol offense.

8. Stanzi: Decent arm strength, decent accuracy, good character, good work ethic, decent potential and played in a pro style offense.

My 2011 NFL Mock Draft

First Round

1. Panthers: Cam Newton/QB/Auburn: I personally am not a Newton fan, but that won’t stop Jerry Richardson from seeing that whether or not Newton does well, it will bring in a lot of fans and sell a ton of jerseys.

2. Broncos: Marcell Dareus/DT/Alabama: John Fox is a conservative coach and so he goes with a safe player in Dareus who he can build his defense around.

3. Bills: Blaine Gabbert/QB/Missouri: I know this sounds wired with Fitzpatrick just coming off a good season, but they draft C. J. Spiller when both Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson had been coming off good seasons. The Bills have been looking for the next Jim Kelly ever since he retired and I think Buffalo can’t get themselves to pass on another QB after the success that Sanchez, Flacco, Bradford and Ryan have had.

4. Bengals: Da’Quan Bowers/DE/Clemson: As I said before, it sound wired since they need a wideout, but this kind of thing always happens in the draft. The Bengals need a dominate defensive end to help their defense out and the Bengals will look past the injury issues.

5. Cardinals: Von Miller/OLB/Texas A&M: Don’t be surprised if the Cardinals make a trade for a veteran like Kolb or someone with this pick, but Miller will be hard to pass up and will be the perfect player for the Cardinals new defensive coordinator to build his Pittsburgh type defense around.

6. Browns: A. J. Green/WR/Georgia: I think Holmgren likes Robert Quinn, but with Green slipping this far they can’t pass on a future pro bowler. Colt McCoy needs some help and Green can provide that right away.

7. 49ers: Robert Quinn/OLB/North Carolina: They think about Patrick Peterson, but with one of the premiere pass rushers still on the board they go with Quinn.

8. Titans: Nick Fairley/DT/Auburn: They have been trying to replace Albert Hayesworth and I think Fairley is the closest player to him in this draft. They are some character issues with Fairley, but I think they Titans will hope he can get over them and that his former college “D” line coach (who is now with the Titans) will be able to get as much production out of him as he did in college.

9. Cowboys: Patrick Peterson/CB/LSU: The Cowboys will be trying to trade down so they can get an offensive lineman and pick up some extra picks and expect the Cowboys to get a lot for this pick if Peterson is still on the board. Meanwhile, if they can’t trade down I doubt Jerry Jones can pass on Peterson who in some people’s minds is the best player in the draft.

10. Redskins: Mark Ingram/HB/Alabama: Ingram will fit perfectly in Shanahan’s rushing attack and will give Washington a player to build around on the offense. This is kind of high for Ingram, but as I said before these things always happen in the draft.

11. Texans: Aldon Smith/OLB/Missouri: Smith will remind Wade Phillips to much of DeMarcus Ware and that is why is get him here at 11. Smith is a raw player but is already showing that, even before he has developed that he can play at a pro bowl level. I think the potential of Smith will, be too hard to pass up here.

12. Vikings: Cameron Jordon/DE/California: The Vikings will think Locker, but I think instead they replenish their defensive line and get a huge defensive end in Jordon, plus, some say he is one of the more NFL ready players in the draft.

13. Lions: Prince Amukamara/CB/Nebraska: The Lions get a Nebraska player last year and you saw how that worked out, so they go with another on this year and begin to finish their quick turnaround of their defense.

14. Rams: Julio Jones/WR/Alabama: The Rams want another pass rushing defensive end, but they can’t ignore Bradford’s need for some guys to catch the ball. It will be funny to see Oklahoma QB passing to a Alabama Wide receiver and then a Texas QB (Colt McCoy) passing to a Georgia Wide receiver.

15. Dolphins: Ryan Mallet/QB/Arkansas: The Dolphins need help at QB very badly, so the Dolphins will look past Mallet’s character issues and hope he gets past them and can become their next franchise QB.

16. Jaguars: Ryan Kerrigan/DE/Purdue: The Jaguars like high motor players and that is exactly what they will get in Kerrigan. They started the revamping of their defensive line last year and will finish it off this year.

17. Patriots (from Raiders): J. J. Watt/DE/Wisconsin: I think the Patriots will look to draft down here, but if they can’t, with their effort to build a blue collar defense Watt will fit in perfectly.

18. Chargers: Anthony Castonzo/OT/Boston College: The Chargers are looking for some extra pass rush but with all the better defense ends and outside linebackers gone at this time they decide to upgrade their offensive line and give Phillip Rivers even more time to tarn defenses apart.

19. Giants: Tyron Smith/OT/USC: Eli Manning needs help and they will bring smith in to give Manning a little more time in the pocket to hopefully cut down on his interceptions.

20. Buccaneers: Adrian Clayborn/DE/Iowa: Clayborn will be a perfect fit for the Buccaneers and add yet another talented young player to their roster. Clayborn would have been a top ten pick if not for his injuries, so the so the Buccaneers will be thrilled to get him here.

21. Chiefs: Gabe Carimi/OT/Wisconsin: The Chiefs may go with a pass rusher here but with the improvement of Matt Cassel and with the No.1 rushing game in the league the Chiefs will want to continue that success and add another big guy to their offensive line.

22. Colts: Nate Solder/OT/Colorado: The Colts have been looking for a franchise left tackle ever since Glenn left and they will try to see if they can develop Solder into that guy to keep Manning upright.

23. Eagles: Mike Pouncey/OL/Florida: With the Eagles choosing to stick with Vick, they will need more guys to help Vick from getting banged up like he did last season. Jamaal Jackson has not played a full season in a long time and the Eagles will hope Pouncey will have as much success as his brother across the state.

24. Saints: Akeem Ayers/OLB/UCLA: The Saints need a linebacker and Ayers can be both a coverage linebacker and a pass rushing one, which will be nice for Greg Williams to get a versatile player.

25. Seahawks: Corey Liuget/DT/Illinois: The Seahawks need more help on the defensive line and with the news of Matt Hasselbeck wanting to return that will stop the Seahawks from at lease drafting a QB in the first round.

26. Ravens: Jimmy Smith/CB/Colorado: I think it will be a battle between Smith and Texas CB Aaron Williams, but I think Smith has too much potential to pass up.

27. Falcons: Torey Smith/WR/Maryland: Smith has great speed and can play in the slot or kick out to the No. 2 receiver spot. The Falcons need some more speed on the offense and Smith can bring that. Also the Falcons are another team that could go Aaron Williams.

28. Patriots: Danny Watkins/OL/Baylor: I think the Patriots will try to trade down one again here, but if they can’t Watkins would be the perfect player to step in immediately and play any position on the offensive line.

29. Jets: Muhammad Wilkerson/DE/Temple: The Jets need some more big men and some more pass rusher and Wilkerson can do both. Rex Ryan could look at an outside linebacker here, but there aren’t really any huge prospects here.

30. Bears: Derrek Sherrod/OT/Mississippi State: The Bears need someone to protect Jay Cutler so they get Sherrod here who I think it a bit of a reach here in the draft, but they need one too bad to pass on him.

31. Steelers: Aaron Williams/CB/Texas: Williams can play multiple positions which will be perfect for the Steelers defense. Ike Taylor is getting older so they need all the help they can get.

32. Packers: Justin Houston/OLB/Georgia: I think the Packers will try to trade down to a team trying to get a QB, but if they can’t Houston will still be a nice player to put opposite Clay Matthews.

Note: These are not the players I think they should draft, but the players I think they will draft.

What's the hype?

Everyone is totally in love with Cam Newton and personally I can’t see why. If you look at last years class Tim Tebow was practically a clone of Newton except Tebow didn’t like to cheat. But then everyone said he was only worth 3rd or 4th round pick, while they think Newton is a top ten pick. The only guy that put Newton in that range was former Houston GM Charlie Casserly, who said he wouldn’t draft Newton till the mid 4th round. If you look at Newton he has arm strength and is a good runner, but what QB coming out of college doesn’t?

The key to being a good NFL player is accuracy, you look at Sam Bradford from last year and her was known for being accurate, as was Matt Ryan. Then you look at the strong armed and good runners that came out and you have guys like JaMarcus Russell and Achilles Smith, to only mention a few. I think another problem with Newton is that he was only in College for a year and Achilles Smith was also a one year wonder in college. I think if Newton would have stayed in college for longer teams would have figured him out and slowed him down.

I personally think that out of all the dual threat QB’s that have come out over the past 3 or 4 years the only one I’d say has potential to maybe turn it around is Vince Young and that is because he has nice accuracy. Another thing to look at is how many dual threat QB’s have won super bowls and that number is ZERO. Donovan McNabb was the only one to get their and he still wasn’t able to win it. Many look at Josh Freeman as an example of a good dual threat QB that is succeeding in the NFL, but how often does Freeman run? Not very often.

Another thing that isn’t in Newton's favor is his character issues. First he was dismissed from the University of Florida for stealing a students laptop and then through it out the window when the police came to arrest him. Then when he was being recruited but Mississippi State his fathers asked for 250,000 dollars, but Mississippi State refused, so Newton went to Auburn. Some say he didn’t know anything about it, but how can your favorite school give you a scholarship and then it just happened that Newton decided to go to Auburn right after they refused to give his father the money?

I think if people wanted to say that Tebow was a 4th round pick then they need to say that Newton is, because Tebow showed he was a consistent winner for 3 years and he showed he has character, both of which Newton does not have.

Gabbert's Pro Day Report

Blaine Gabbert needed a good pro day at Missouri to assure scouts’ that he was the best QB in the draft and that is exactly what he did. Gabbert had by far the best pro day for a quarterback this year and only had one uncatchable ball in his fifty attempts, while Cam Newton had eight. He also showed of his footwork, as well as his arm strength.

In attendance at his pro day was the Lions GM, the 49ers GM, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, Titans GM, Titans Head Coach Mike Munchak, Titans offensive coordinator, Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier, Bills GM and Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan to only name a few. The word from his pro day so far is that he majorly impressed everyone and that a lot of the coach’s and GM’s present, said they were changing their plans to say longer in Columbia, Missouri so that they would be able to spend more time with Gabbert.

There is also news that the Panthers may be open to trade their number one overall selection to be able to compile some more draft picks, this meaning that if a team with a later pick wanted to move up to take Gabbert that would be possible.

Super Bowl Champs!

The Green Bay Packers become the 2010 NFL Champions with their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. After finishing the season with a 10-6 record they made the playoffs as a Wildcard team. They drove all the way through the playoffs to face the Steelers in the Championship who had also won the Super Bowl as a Wildcard team in 2005. The Steelers were attempting to get their 7th Super Bowl win in the teams history and the Packers their 4th.

The game with both teams having the ball once but both couldn't score. Then after the Steelers punted the ball back to the Packers Aaron Rogers led them down the field and took the led on a 29 yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson to go up 7-0. The Packers then Kicked the ball of and a few plays later Steelers Quarterback Ben Rothlisberger was intercepted by Packers safety Nick Collins who returned the ball 37 yards for the Touchdown putting Green Bay up 14-0 with 3:20 left in the 1st quarter.

During the early moments of the second quarter the Steelers were able to get on the board with a Shaun Suisham field goal to make the score 14-3. The Packers quickly responded by adding another touchdown with a 21 yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings to make the score 21-3. The Steelers got the ball and in the closing moments of the 1st half drove down the field and scored on a 8 yard touchdown pass to Hines Ward making the Halftime score 21-10.

     The Steelers scored a touchdown early in the third quarter to make the score 21-17 and closing the Packers lead to 4 points.

     The Packers finally answered the Steelers score early in the fourth quarter with a score of their own on a 8 yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings to give Green Bay Quarterback Aaron Rogers 3 touchdown on the game and making the score 28-17. The Steelers wouldn't go away though and scored a touchdown on a long 25 yard pass to Mike Wallace, then the Steelers went for the two point conversation and completed it with a 2 yard run from Antwaan Randel El to make the score 28-25.

     The Packers then conducted a long drive which ended with a field goal to increase the Packers lead 31-25. The Steelers then drove down the field but in the end was not able to get a first down and keep the drive alive giving the Packers a 31-25 win.

     The Steelers suffered from bad plays with Roethlisberger through two interception and Halfback Rashard Mendenhall was stripped on the ball on the Packers 31 yard line. The Packers had their share of scares as All-Pro Cornerback Charles Woodson was taking to the locker room before halftime and was not able to return the game. The young corners for the Packers played extremely well and held Roethlisberger back without their best defensive player on the field.

Aaron Rogers was also able to get rid of the conversation that he won't be able to fill Brett Favre's shoes after his departure from Green Bay in 2007. Rogers has now won the same amount of Super Bowl's as Brett Favre did and is in prime position to win many more.

The Packers were many people's preseason favorite to win the Super Bowl but after a season filled with injuries, with Quarterback Aaron Rogers suffering two concussions and the Packers leading rusher Ryan Grant and many others being injured and ruled out for the entire season, the Packers were able to redeem the team potential in the postseason with a Super Bowl win. After all it doesn't matter how you start but how you finish.

Draft Chatter

Well the NFL draft is around the corner and although the NFL has started the lockout the draft will still go on. Now that most pro days are over for most of the high profile players (that is except for top QB Blaine Gabbert from Missouri who will conduct his on March 17) we have are beginning to see how the draft may turn out.

Most are saying at the moment that Blaine Gabbert is the best QB, although QB Cam Newton out of Auburn has impressed many with his talents, but the question is still with his accuracy, character issues and playing the spread offense in college. The other QB's also have some of the same issues with Washington's QB Jake Locker not being extremely accurate, Arkansas's QB Ryan Mallet having character issues and Missouri's Blaine Gabbert coming out of the spread offense. The problem with Newton is that he shows great potential but instead of having one problem like most on the board he has all three. Also the spread he ran in college was more run based while Gabbert's was more pass based.

Gabbert meanwhile is considered very accurate, has good character and has the football IQ and work ethic to be able to convert to the NFL pro style offense, but some still have questions about how he handles Important moments in games and weather he can lead the team in a comeback when the pressure is on. Mallet meanwhile has defiantly the best arm of the class and used the pro style offense in College, but many people think he won't be able to be the leader on the team and the face of the franchise, as well as not making good decisions in the pocket when under pressure. Locker has a good arm decent accuracy and played a pro style offense in college, but scouts don't like how his accuracy is not very good in the pocket and he looks to run the ball before finishing his reads.

The defensive class this year is very deep and has a very good class of defensive lineman such as Marcell Dareus out of Alabama, Da'Quan Bowers out of Clemson, Von Miller out of Texas A&M, Robert Quinn out of North Carolina and Nick Fairley out of Auburn to just mention a few.

There are also some top notch cornerbacks in Patrick Peterson out of LSU and Prince Amukamara out of Nebraska. The linebacker class is a little shallow as is the offensive line class with no real standouts in those positions. The wide receiver class only has two big time receivers in A. J. Green out of Georgia and Julio Jones out of Alabama but it has great value in the later rounds.

Eventful January

Well, as most of you saw the Packers beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl and it was quite the exciting game. I am sorry I haven't been able to post in a long time. We have been traveling and I just haven't found the time to post. I will try to catch up with our Playoff predictions and Final Power Rankings as soon as possible, as well as a NFL Mock draft I am working on.

NFL Rankings Week 16

POWER RANKINGS
1. New England Patriots: After a close call against Matt Flynn and company they only need one more win to clinch the East and home field advantage.

2. Atlanta Falcons: They continue to dominate the NFC and are only one game away from clinching the South and home field advantage.

3. Baltimore Ravens: They needed to prove that they can beat a good team and they did against the Saints as their long lost ground game returned.

4. Philadelphia Eagles: This team is total magic on offense, all they need is one more win and they clinch the East.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers: Without Troy Polamalu their defense looks lost, but they have two very easy games left and then Polamalu should be back for the Playoffs.

6. San Diego Chargers: They have a dominate win against San Francisco but they are still helpless unless the Chiefs lose one of their next two.

7. New York Jets: They needed a statement win and they got it, Mark Sanchez played well, but the defense didn’t look overly impressive.

8. New Orleans Saints: They had a good run going, but got took apart by Baltimore.

9. Chicago Bears: They clinch the North and beat the Favre less Vikings, plus the defense played well after that awful Patriots game.

10. Green Bay Packers: Matt Flynn played great, but the Packers seems like they couldn’t get anything to go their way.

11. Kansas City Chiefs: They have a statement win against the Rams and I think Cassel is earning some MVP votes as well as Jamal Charles.

12. New York Giants: They totally took apart the Eagles until the fourth quarter, by the way the Giants can’t put the loss on the punter, they shouldn’t have let the Eagles get the onside or score 21 points in a matter of minutes.

13. Indianapolis Colts: They have the division back and are now in control of their own fate.

14. Jacksonville Jaguars: They couldn’t seem to hold Payton back the second time and they pretty much got killed.

15. Oakland Raiders: They almost blow a game against a rookie Tim Tebow but thankfully Darren McFadden came to the rescue.

16. Dallas Cowboys: It is a shame the Cowboys can’t somehow make the playoffs because this is a good team.

17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: I think they have proven they are an average team and not a playoff team.

18. San Francisco 49ers: They have a great shot at winning the division and going to the playoffs with a 7-9 record.

19. St. Louis Rams: The Rams really need to win out if they want to have a chance at the division.

20. Buffalo Bills: They are looking like a spoiler as they have become quite the competitive team.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: They finally get a win and snap the losing streak.

22. Houston Texans: Their defense looks worse then any I have seen in College or Pro.

23. Minnesota Vikings: Losing Brett Favre killed them and now they are stuck with

24. Washington Redskins: They looked like they actually had life against the Cowboys and I doubt McNabb will get the job back this season.

25. Tennessee Titans: They get a win without Young and Collins played halfway descent.

26. Seattle Seahawks: They played two quarters of good football but then the Falcons took it to them.

27. Cleveland Browns: They lose against the Bengals, but all in all I think the Browns have to be pleased with the progress this season. If you look at it they might also have a future QB in McCoy and a future shutdown corner in Haden.

28. Detroit Lions: They now have won two strait and finally win one on the road.

29. Miami Dolphins: Miami is a wreck and I think Sparano has to feel the heat from Bill Cowher.

30. Denver Broncos: The Broncos have to be impressed with Tebow but the defense looked REALLY awful.

31. Carolina Panthers: They are threatening their chances of getting Andrew Luck. I think they are glad to get Jonathan Stewart back.

32. Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals blow out the Broncos one week and then get beat by the Panthers.

NFL Rankings Week 15

POWER RANKINGS

1. New England Patriots: The Patriots are totally dominating in games now and Tom Brady is playing like he did in 2007.

2. Atlanta Falcons: Another win for this team and they are really rolling.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers: No doubt in my mind this is the best defense by far in the entire league.

4. Philadelphia Eagles: They pick up a nice win and stay in control of the NFC East.

5. New Orleans Saints: Their offense is starting to get hot and at the right time of the season.

6. San Diego Chargers: They are playing dominate football and look like the most talented team in the league.

7. Chicago Bears: They have proved they can’t play in the cold and that isn’t a good thing for a team in Chicago.

8. Baltimore Ravens: They may be winning, but they haven’t controlled any game that they have been in all season long.

9. Green Bay Packers: The loss of Aaron Rogers was a blow, plus he might be out this week as well.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars: This team is play good football and it won’t be a team to go down easy to the Colts.

11. Indianapolis Colts: They get a win and Payton doesn’t throw any picks, I guess that is a start.

12. New York Jets: This team has gone from Super Bowl favorite to Wildcard hopeful. They need to get their team in order and stop talking and tripping and start playing football.

13. Kansas City Chiefs: I think Brodie Croyle showed he won’t be worth getting in free agency, with him at center the Chiefs couldn’t score a point.

14. New York Giants: They have a nice win, but Eli needs to stop throwing so many interceptions.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: They beat Washington, but they shouldn’t have. They need to step it up quick if they want a playoff spot.

16. Oakland Raiders: Well, for the first time I’m impressed with the Raiders and it is not because they won but because they went to the East Coast after a big win and didn’t get blown out.

17. Dallas Cowboys: This team is dangerous and Garrett should be kept as their coach, he has done a great job.

18. San Francisco 49ers: They have a real shot at the division crown, if they can beat St. Louis and win out.

19. St. Louis Rams: They had a chance to make it a 1 point game before half time but instead made it a 15 point game with a pick.

20. Houston Texans: They had a nice game, but they are missing too many pieces to try to make a major run at the playoffs.

21. Minnesota Vikings: I think what ever Favre’s faults were; at lease they kept games competitive.

22. Buffalo Bills: After getting blown out by Minnesota they had a nice win against Cleveland.

23. Washington Redskins: They had a win in place but then the team fell apart again.

24. Miami Dolphins: They won but that win goes to the defense and not the the offense or Chad Henne.

POWER RANKINGS

1. New England Patriots: They hop the Falcons since they killed a team with the Falcons record. This is a team to really watch out for, they are on a roll.

2. Atlanta Falcons: They beat a good team, but the Patriots killed a good team. Another thing, Matt Ryan is showing each week that this team is very capable to come from behind which will help in the playoffs.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers: They didn’t win pretty but they defiantly won. The Steelers defense is unbelievable.

4. Chicago Bears: When Cutler plays well no one has been able to beat this team.

5. Baltimore Ravens: They played a great game of defense, but their offense can’t seem to get it clicking.

6. Green Bay Packers: They have another nice game against the 49ers and wow did the Packers wide receivers make some plays.

7. Philadelphia Eagles: Michael Vick is consistently playing good football, but he is taking a lot of hits.

8. New Orleans Saints: Their offense seems to finally be getting on track. But their defense needs to step it up a little, they were really lucky on that off-sides call.

9. New York Jets: Rex Ryan wouldn’t close his mouth, so the Patriots did it for him. I think we saw what might happen if this team gets behind in a big game and that is that Sanchez fell apart.

10. Kansas City Chiefs: It was a hard fought battle but in the end it was the Chiefs defense and not their offense that won the game, plus the Chiefs held Orton to under 150 yards and he was only 6-28 in pass attempts, they will need that same defense this week in a game that may win the division.

11. New York Giants: They blow out Washington, but I think the Redskins beat themselves, so I can’t say too much in favor of the Giants.

12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: They need to be able to finish games if they want a shot at the playoffs. They had the Falcons beat twice, but then lost, which would have put them in the lead for the division right now.

13. Jacksonville Jaguars: This team is getting better an better as the season goes on and the Colts need to watch out.

14. Dallas Cowboys: This team is for real and they are one Roy Williams fumble away from being 4-0 under Garrett.

15. San Diego Chargers: After having such a great run they are totally dominated by a not so good Oakland team.

16. Indianapolis Colts: They continue to be going down the drain and Peyton Manning seems to be causing it.

17. Minnesota Vikings: They are now 2-0 under the new management and they finally got the picture that if you run Peterson down the opponents throat you will win, even if your quarterbacks throw 4 picks.

18. Oakland Raiders: They have a nice win after a bad stretch, but they need to keep it up if Cable wants to keep his job and if they want a chance at the playoffs.

19. St. Louis Rams: They are getting better and better as the season goes on. Plus, Bradford hasn’t gotten injured, while Colt McCoy and Jimmy Clausen have both had injury problems.

20. Houston Texans: I really don’t know what to say, they have so much talent yet they can’t seem to put a full season together.

21. San Francisco 49ers: I can’t believe they are going to start Alex Smith while Troy Smith has had a much better season and they have 3 wins under Troy Smith while only 1 under Alex Smith.

26. Tennessee Titans: I think Vince Young didn’t play his last game for the Titans, I think Jeff Fisher is coaching his last season for the Titans.

27. Buffalo Bills: After looking like they were really becoming a competitive team, they fell apart.

28. Denver Broncos: They fire McDaniels when they wanted him to train Tebow, now are they hoping that a runningbacks coach can train Tebow?

29. Detroit Lions: They now have to wait for next season to see if Stafford can be the franchise QB.

30. Cincinnati Bengals: All I can say is that they need to fire Marvin Lewis.

7. New York Jets: Their score against Cincinnati was deceiving, if you take away the big plays from Brad Smith the Jets probably would have lost to a bad Bengals team.

8. New Orleans Saints: They win, but they shouldn’t have won. They are SO lucky the Cowboys have Roy Williams on their roster.

9. San Diego Chargers: They beat the Colts and are now officially on their end of the season run.

Kansas City Chiefs: Charlie Weis offense was seen last week as the unstoppable (and former bust) Dwayne Bowe and Matt Cassel dominated the air and the No. 1 ranked rushing attack put up 230 yards compliments of Jamaal Charles who had 173 on his own. Also the Chiefs have Denver and San Diego back to back, if the Chiefs can win these they will probably clinch the division.

11. Pittsburgh Steelers: They had a close call against Buffalo when they dropped the game winning touchdown pass, are the Steelers lucky or what.

12. New York Giants: They did win against Jacksonville but they were dominated for three quarters.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: They play Baltimore tough and this year team shows a lot of promise.

14. Indianapolis Colts: They need a win next week or their season is over.

7. New Orleans Saints: They needed a staple win and they got one against a Steelers team that has potential of going far this season, but needs to clean up the mistakes.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers: They had a bad game against New Orleans but remember the Saints did win the Super Bowl last year.

9. Atlanta Falcons: They could use another big win over Tampa to help their position in a NFC South division who has 3 possible playoff teams in it.

10. Kansas City Chiefs: They didn’t dominate against Buffalo but they finished the game off, remember the Ravens also beat the Bills in OT last week. Also the Chiefs had a good team effort. Matt Cassel was dead most the game but caught fire the final drive.

11. Miami Dolphins: They didn’t get a back call this week and they were able to win. This is a very talented team, but they need to score TD’s and not only get 3 points on each drive.

12. Green Bay Packers: They dominated defensively against the Jets, but Aaron Rogers still looks like he isn’t in control.

13. Houston Texans: They showed how bad their defense was against the Colts, but remember the 2008 Saints didn’t have a great defense either.

14. San Diego Chargers: They are capable of winning every game left on their schedule it is just a matter of wither they will or not.

16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: If they can get a big win against Atlanta and take the Division, then I will believe in this team as a playoff contender.

3. New England Patriots: It doesn’t look pretty but they are winning games.

4. Tennessee Titans: They’re defense is becoming one of the most feared in the league and the offense is making up for a sloppy season from Chris Johnson.

5. Baltimore Ravens: They’re defense could stop the Bills offense for nothing and if you want the top spot in the Rankings you need to beat the Bills without going to overtime.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers: They look really bad with Big Ben back…could Tomlin go back to one of his other QB’s?

7. New York Giants: They shouldn’t have won Monday night but with Romo out I think the Cowboys will start to appreciate him more.

3. New England Patriots: Tom Brady showed he didn’t need Randy Moss to win and Deion Branch had a good welcome back game.

4. New Orleans Saints: After two very bad losses they are now only ½ a game behind first since Atlanta lost, but Atlanta still has the tie breaker with the overtime win they had against the Saints.

5. New York Jets: They didn’t look great against the Broncos, but they did come out with a win.

6. Baltimore Ravens: Ravens played a solid offensive game but the defense couldn’t hold Brady from coming back.

7. New York Giants: The Giants are on the up hill climb and that defense is starting to come around.

8. Tennessee Titans: They totally dominated in their MNF game against Jacksonville. Kerry Collins did well but we hope Vince gets well soon.

9. Philadelphia Eagles: So now who do you start? Kolb did great and Vick is now healthy. I guess most teams don’t have one good QB, so two is a luxury.

10. Houston Texans: They won the game against Kansas City but the Chiefs scored at will against that horrible Texans defense and with Demarco Ryans out for the season it will only get worse, they better hope their offense can out score the opponent every week or this team is in trouble.

11. Atlanta Falcons: They were on a good track but a bad loss to the Eagles hopefully won’t derail that.

12. Kansas City Chiefs: Their offense was great and the defense play good football until the final couple minutes of the game, but this is a young team and they will continue to learn and get better.

13. Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins came up with a win, but this offense needs to step it up, it’s defense can’t win the game every week.

14. Minnesota Vikings: Vikings avoided going 1-4 but only beat a 1-4 team. They need to get Adrian Peterson going to take pressure off of Favre and to help close games.

15. Washington Redskins: They are continuing to make progress; I think Shanahan has then on the right track.

16. Chicago Bears: They would be undefeated if they had a halfway descend offensive line. They need to protect Jay Cutler now that he has show he can be that franchise QB that they gave 2 first round picks for.

17. Green Bay Packers: They seem to never be able to finish a game, plus Aaron Rogers looks REALLY flat.

18. Denver Broncos: The Broncos are starting to come around and they should have beat the Jets, they certainly out played the Jets.

19. San Diego Chargers: I never thought I’d see the day when Phillip Rivers and the Chargers lost to the Rams, but I guess I just did…I don’t know what to say about them.

20. Dallas Cowboys: They are in the same boat as the Chargers…I am speechless.

21. San Francisco 49ers: Well, They finally got a win. I think this is a team capable of coming back and winning the division.

22. Cincinnati Bengals: They haven’t been consistent at all, lets see if the bye week helps, although from so far teams coming off a bye are 5-3.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: I don’t mean to knock down the Buccaneers but all along I was wondering when they would get back to the old Buccaneers

24. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford has done wonders in St. Louis with a 3-3 record.

25. Seattle Seahawks: They had a solid win against the Bears, but they need to be more consistent.

26. Detroit Lions: They played a decent game against a hot Giants team, this team is slowly but surly improving.

27. Oakland Raiders: Well, after looking sharp last week Jason Campbell got back to his normal routine of playing flat.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars: They totally got embarrassed against Tennessee and Garrard better stop getting injured so much, because Trent Edwards didn’t play very good.

29. Arizona Cardinals: They are a team that is now went from competing for a Super Bowl to competing for the 1st pick of the draft.

30. Cleveland Browns: Colt McCoy did alright, but no one is going to do good against that Steelers defense.

31. Carolina Panthers: They need to just take the season off.

32. Buffalo Bills: From so are the only thing exciting about these bottom teams is trying to guess who gets the 1st pick in the draft.

POWER RANKINGS

1. Pittsburgh Steelers: That defense is totally dominate and with Big Ben returning this team will be the team to beat in the NFL.

2. New York Jets: After a slow start to the season Mark Sanchez and the Jets have caught fire. I think the one weak spot will be if Revis doesn’t get healthy quickly.

3. Baltimore Ravens: If Flacco can sharpen up and play like he did last year there is no boundaries where this team can go.

4. Chicago Bears: This team has caught fire; we can only hope Cutler will not be out much longer.

5. Indianapolis Colts: The Colts had a hard time against Kansas City but the Chiefs defense is becoming one of the best, so expect them to bounce back.

6. Atlanta Falcons: If the Falcons can continue to play well and really get into a rhythm they will have a good chance at taking the NFC South if not the NFC.

7. New England Patriots: Moss or no Moss this team has one player that will make them win and that is Tom Brady. The defense needs to step up, but I think Belichick will find a way just like he always does.

8. Green Bay Packers: This team is so talented but they look REALLY flat and without Aaron Rogers it is only going to get worse.

9. New Orleans Saints: Well, to lose to an up and coming Falcons team is one thing, but to lose to a Cardinals team that is in total rebuilding mode is really bad.

10. Kansas City Chiefs: This defense is for real, they held Peyton Manning to less then 300 yards and didn’t let him get a single touchdown, No other team has been able to do that this season. Plus, take away a dropped TD pass by Dwayne Bowe and a fumble by Jamal Charles and I think the Chiefs would have stayed unbeaten. Watch out for the Chiefs, they are back.

11. Houston Texans: The Texans have showed they have the talent on their team, to beat anybody; they continue to slipup and not be able to finish a game. This is mainly because of their 32nd ranked pass defense, if the Texans want to challenge the Colts they will have to improve in that area.

12. New York Giants: The Giants are a few games away from jumping up the Rankings, but I think they should say here till they prove this is not just a fluke.

13. San Diego Chargers: The Chargers are a couple of good special teams plays away from being undefeated. They have given up a special teams touchdown in each of their games this season, and they are 2-3, they need to improve their if they want to keep the division.

14. Tennessee Titans: The Titans got back on track in Dallas, after a bad stretch, but VY really needs to be more of an impact on a consistent basis if they want to make the playoffs.

15. Washington Redskins: They may be winning, but it is by the skin of their teeth. If this team wants a playoff appearance they need to win some games on their own and not just off of other teams’ mistakes.

16. Philadelphia Eagles: They need to find who is going to be QB and hope he won’t get hurt. I think this is a good Eagles team, but they don’t have the same depth chart from week to week and that will hurt a teams rhythm.

17. Miami Dolphins: Special teams are killing them, but their defense has improved big time.

18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Don’t ask me how the Buc’s are doing it, but their winning.

19. Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys are still in my opinion the most talented team in the NFL, but they have the least spirit in the NFL.

20. Cincinnati Bengals: They have the same problem as the Cowboys and that is lack of spirit, they need to get this show on the road if they won’t to make the playoffs

21. Minnesota Vikings: This team is in the same category as the last two and that is they are very talented but the little mistakes are killing them. If you ask me personally, I think this team without Favre is better then this team with him.

22. Denver Broncos: If they could only have Elis Dummervil back and have a halfway descent running game, this team would be in the playoffs easily

23. Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jaguars need to stop making the little mistakes and they would be a halfway descent team.

24. Oakland Raiders: So now who do you start? Jason Campbell or Bruce Gradkowski? With their running defense being as bad as it is and their pass defense getting worse, this team is in for another 5 win season.

25. Arizona Cardinals: Well, Max Hall is playing descent football and this defense showed up against the Saints.

26. Seattle Seahawks: They have won with fluke plays and they need to get sharper on both sides of the ball.

27. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford is looking REALLY special and the defense is starting to come around slowly but surly.

28. Detroit Lions: They had a nice win against the Rams, but the Rams are the Rams and they need to have better QB play, since the defense is doing so well.

29. Cleveland Browns: If they start Colt McCoy against the Steelers he will be totally killed and he won’t be able to recover.

30. San Francisco 49ers: This team is the best in the NFC West, but they look like they don’t know what their doing.

31. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers can only hope the season ends soon.

32. Buffalo Bills: Well, at lease they have descent QB play from the Ivy League QB.

Vick or Kolb? Well, from what I saw I think Kolb doesn’t look quite ready and Vick does looks quite ready. Kolb looked like he didn’t really feel comfortable in the pocket, while Vick looked extremely sharp. Then in the game against Detroit he made pro bowl caliber plays, with one being a strike to McCoy, while Vick was about two inches from the ground being driven in by a Packers defender. Then he through a strike to Maclin in the endzone while being under major pressure. So all in all I think Kolb needs more time to mature. While Vick looked ready to go.

For 70 Million Dollars, Matt Cassel Needs to Step it Up: Kansas City has surprised the football world by starting the season 2-0 with a 21-14 win over the Chargers and a 16-14 win over the Browns. In both games every part of the Chiefs team has done well and shows some real promise, that is all but one of them have, the only weak spot at the moment in Kansas City is the QB position. Last year Kansas City sent a second round pick to New England for Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel, Vrabel had been an excellent teacher and leader on this team, while Cassel (who is the highest paid player on the Chiefs roster) has been a disappointment. In his one and only season as the Patriots starter he was 10-5, but in Kansas City last year he was 4-12 and only had 2900 yards 16 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Then Kansas City brought in Charlie Weis to help Cassel out, but from so far nothing Kansas City has done has helped. I think now is the time for Cassel to step up his game or Kansas City will look other places this off-season, for help at the QB position.

Welcome back Romeo Crennel: Well, Kansas City may have their QB problems but the defense has improved majorly since last season. When they hired Crennel this off-season everyone was crazy on how Weis was going to turn this team around and they were going to have an unstoppable offense, but from so far this season the defense (who was predicted to be the thing that weighted the Chiefs down) has been outstanding. They held Phillip Rivers to 14 points and then did the same thing in Cleveland. He has also taught them how to close out games, with a goal line stand against the Chargers and then a three and out on Cleveland’s last drive. I think at this point in the season Romeo Crennel has been the assistant coach of the year.

How About that Steelers Defense: WOW, that defense has been simply dominating. Against the Falcons (who scored 41 points the week after they played the Steelers) they held them to only 9 points and then against the Titans (scored 38 points the week before playing the Steelers) they held Chris Johnson to under 40 yards and forced 7 turnovers. If the Steelers defense can play like this for the rest of the season, they will be a playoff team with or with out Roethlisberger.

Houston Continues to Impress: Well, right as we thought the Texans would start the season 1-1 they have a huge comeback after being down by 17 and win by 3. That has to be great for Texans fans who have been used to having their team lose, once they went down by 10 or more. I think this is a team to watch out for especially since 2009 Rookie of the Year Brian Cushing isn’t even playing yet.

What is wrong with the Cowboys? They couldn’t pull off a win in week one an then they get crushed in week two by none other then Jay Culter. I think this team needs to turn around fast or a lot will change in Dallas. I think it all has to start with Tony Romo and his O-line and then the defense needs to step up.

How Good are the Saints? Well, after watching their game against Minnesota and then their game against San Francisco I am not impressed at all. I think this team has been out played in each game and has capitalized off of dumb mistakes by the other team to win. You look at the 49ers game, they could drive at all in the 2nd half of the game until the last drive and then the 49ers drove at will, but every time they got to the redzone they would do something dumb. I think Sean Peyton needs to get this team rolling or they will not be in the undefeated ranks long.

How About Jay Culter: Jay Cutler continues to impress with a great game against the Cowboys, where he through 3 touchdowns and no interceptions on route to a big win. I think if the Bears can keep this up they will be in the playoffs once again and Lovie Smith can save his job.

Who Said the Colts Would Miss the Playoffs? It seems like the Colts wanted to show what they could do on Sunday night, when they just killed the Giants. They ran for over 100 yards and then Peyton Manning also went to work. The Giants looked totally lost and Peyton took advantage with accurate throws and great game management. I think it was defiantly to early to say the Texans will win the division and that the Colts were on the decline.

POWER RANKINGS

1. Green Bay Packers: I think they have been the most dominate team in the Nation. Aaron Rogers and company look good.

2. Indianapolis Colts: I am starting to think that either the Colts had a bad game in week one, or the Texans are just that good. I watched their game against the Giants and they looked great.

3. Houston Texans: I think the Texans showed a lot of spirit by coming back and winning in OT. I think people need to start watching out for the Texans.

4. San Diego Chargers: The Chargers where dominate in their game, showing that the game against Kansas City on Monday night was not a pattern how the Chargers season would go.

5. New York Jets: They had an impressive win against the Patriots and the defense continues to impress. I think Mark Sanchez played like they thought he could in this game with 3 touchdown and no interceptions.

6. New Orleans Saints: I really don’t think the Saints are this good, but with a 2-0 start you can’t really put them any lower. I think in the first week the team looked flat and then on Monday night against the 49ers the Saints only won because of San Francisco’s mistakes. Their offense went three and out on all but one drive of the 2nd half and before the final drive, everyone of the Saints points came off of a mistake by the 49ers. I think this team is WAY over rated and look REALLY flat.

7. New England Patriots: I think the Patriots had the bad luck of playing a red hot Jets team, other wise they still looked ok in that loss.

8. Baltimore Ravens: I think this team will bounce back. If you look at it, Joe Flacco was the only player with a bad game on Sunday and we all know that Flacco will be able to bounce back.

9. Chicago Bears: They looked sharp against Dallas, Mike Martz could be the savior of the team after all. Also Jay Culter is looking good.

10. Pittsburgh Steelers: WOW, who thought that the Roethlisbergerless Steelers would be 2-0 to start the season! I think the Steelers have the best defense in the league right now hands down. I mean, if you look, they shut down the Falcons, who turned around and scored 41 points against the Cardinals, then killed the Titans who scored 38 points in week 1.

11. Philadelphia Eagles: I think with Vick as the starter, they are the best team in the NFC East right now. But if Kolb start, they will rapidly go down. But back to Vick, he looked like Peyton Manning throwing the ball and like Michael Vick running the ball. Do we now have a player for comeback player of the year?

12. Washington Redskins: Wow, has Mike Shanahan done a miracle with the Redskins, if you could take Gary Kabiak’s timeouts away from him the Redskins are 2-0.

13. Dallas Cowboys: I think the Cowboys are the most talented team in football, but they can’t do the most important thing, which is play as a team. I think Wade Phillip’s is one loss away from being fired, because J. Jones won’t keep a coach that takes the most talented team in football starts 0-3.

14. Minnesota Vikings: Is Brett Favre now a weak point on the team? He had 2 interceptions against the Saints that cost them the game and then he through 3 interceptions that cost them the game against Miami. Will Favre turn his game around?

15. Cincinnati Bengals: The only reason the Bengals are not 0-2 is a career bad game for Flacco. And it wasn’t like the Bengals won this game, it was more like the Ravens lost this game.

16. Miami Dolphins: I think if they have more dominating wins, then they will start to shoot up the rankings, but a close win against Buffalo and then a less then impressive win against Minnesota won’t do it. I think this team has potential, but they need to sharpen their game.

17. San Francisco 49ers: Wow, if you take away a couple of mistakes that can easily be fixed, the 49ers would and should have beaten the Saints. Alex Smith had 2 interceptions but he also had two touchdowns and over 300 yards passing. Plus they didn’t let the Saints get a first down from the beginning of the 3rd quarter to the last drive of the game.

18. Atlanta Falcons: The Falcons bounced back with a good game, but I will need to see it two weeks in a row to know that week one was a fluke.

19. Tennessee Titans: I think it was the dumbest decision of Jeff Fishers career to bench Young. He has never liked Young since he was drafted and to bench your QB for losing to the best defense in football is a totally dumb decision and if this starts Young on a down spiral, then Fisher is on the street once the season is over.

20. New York Giants: You cannot let Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis have a free run at the Eli, I think Eli had a good game considering he had about 0.5 seconds to pass after he hiked the ball. And to add to the offensive line problems, they let the Colts run for over 100 yards, they are never able to run at will and the Giants defense let them run all they wanted.

21. Denver Broncos: I think they showed that the Jacksonville game was just a fluke. Here is another thing, I think that Kyle Orten is the most underrated QB in the game. I think the defense played a better game, although there is still room for improvement.

22. Kansas City Chiefs: Wow, the Chiefs start 2-0 for the first time since 2005. I think once again all the credit goes to Romeo Crennel and that Chiefs defense, I mean, how long has it been since Kansas City has closed out two close game in consecutive weeks? I think there is two negatives in this win and that is the bad play of QB Matt Cassel and the determination of the coaching staff to play Thomas Jones over Jammal Charles, I mean, Charles has a 6.6 yards per carry, while Jones has a 3.6 yards per carry. So all in all the defense looks great and they need to get the best player on their team (Jammal Charles) on the field.

23. Oakland Raiders: Wow, is the Jason Campbell era already over in Oakland? Man, are the Raiders in a mess at QB.

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Well, they start 2-0 and that is good for any club, although I would like to see them play sharper.

25. Detroit Lions: Man, even without Mathew Stafford the Lions put a good fight against a good team.

26. Seattle Seahawks: Was their win against the 49ers just a flash in the pan? The Seahawks still have a lot to prove.

27. Carolina Panthers: Jimmy Clausen better turn the team around, or they are on a down hill spiral.

28. Arizona Cardinals: They looked awful against Atlanta last week, looks like it will be a long season for the Cardinals.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars: Will these where the Jaguars I thought we’d see this year. Hey, at lease they are 1-1.

30. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford continues to impress in a near win against Oakland.

31. Cleveland Browns: Well, their defense played well, but the offense blow the game, with a fumble at their own 30, and an interception return for a touchdown.

32. Buffalo Bills: Well…the draft is this April and you have an exciting player to watch in CJ Spiller.

POWER RANKINGS

1. New Orleans Saints (last week: 2): I personally think they won’t last at #1 for long, but they have some easy teams coming and should stay undefeated.

2. Green Bay Packers (last week 3): They could get #1 with a strong showing this week. Most would think that it wasn’t a good game since they only won by 7, but they had the Eagles shutdown till Vick came.

3. New England Patriots (last week 8): Tom Brady showed he is back and coming for more. He was unstoppable against a good Bengals defense, if they keep this up, watch out.

4. Baltimore Ravens (last week: 4): The offensive might have struggled, but that defense could not be broken.

5. Indianapolis Colts (last week 1): Peyton and company will get their show going again, just give them time. And about the run defense, remember they won the Super Bowl with one of the worst in the country.

6. Houston Texans (last week: 11): They showed they are now in the elite ranks of the NFL. I think this team is a colon of last years Saints, so watch out.

7. Minnesota Vikings (last week: 6): They could have won that game, so no need to panic. I think Brett Favre looked better then I thought he would in his first game. I think it will take a while for the Vikings to get back in stride, but when they do, they will be at the top again.

8. Dallas Cowboys (last week: 5): I said in the preseason I didn’t like their offensive line and how quickly Romo was getting flustered. I think they need to get that offensive line healthy, or this could be a bad year.

9. Tennessee Titans (last week: 16): Vince Young looked great in the first game and CJK2 looked like he is due for another K2 season, also the defense was dominate. I think the AFC South will start to gain respect and the Colts won’t have a walk in the park anymore.

10. San Diego Chargers (last week: 9): I think the big loss in KC won’t weigh this team down, remember last year the Chargers started 0-3 and then finished the season with 11 straight.

11. New York Jets (last week: 11): I think the Jets (like I said in the off-season) are putting too much stock in Sanchez being the next Tom Brady, and surprise he is still only in his second year in the NFL. The defense did a great job on Monday night, but they need to make the offense less complicated and just plat football.

12. Cincinnati Bengals (last week: 7): I hope this isn’t a picture of things to come. The Bengals looked like the Bengals of 08 and not the Bengals of 09. I think Marvin Lewis needs to pull his team together, or it won’t be his team anymore.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (last week: 19): They made a statement with a win without Roethlisberger. I think this defense showed that with a healthy Troy P. they are still one of, if not the most dominate defense in football.

14. Washington Redskins (last week: 18): Wow, Shanahan is turning this team around fast. Their defense looked good against Dallas and their running game started to get going.

15. Philadelphia Eagles (last week: 17): With Kolb in they looked dead, but with Vick in they looked great. I think if Vick would have started that game they would have won.

16. Miami Dolphins (last week: 15): They need to play better; to barely beat Buffalo isn’t good. I think this team has a lot of talent; they just need to get their show together.

17. Atlanta Falcons (last week: 14): A loss to the Roethlisbergerless Steelers isn’t a good start at all. That defense played good but the offense let them down.

18. New York Giants (last week: 13): I think Eli needs his receivers to catch a couple of balls. Two of his three interceptions where off of balls that the receivers should and could have caught. That defense look ok, but they need to make some improvements.

19. Seattle Seahawks (last week: 27): They shocked everyone with that win and made the 49ers look very bad. If Correll and Hasselback can keep it up they will have a shot at the NFC West.

20. Chicago Bears (last week: 20): Culter played well in his first game, although the Lions should have won with either the TD catch at the end, or if Stafford wouldn’t have gotten hurt.

21. San Francisco 49ers (last week: 10): They REALLY disappointed everyone in week one, and Alex Smith looks like he did in 08 and before, not like he did in 09. That defense didn’t look as good as it should have.

22. Arizona Cardinals (last week: 24): Derek Anderson looked ok, but they need to do better against a team that isn’t that great.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (last week: 23): They did win but they looked flat, Garrard played good, which is a good sign for the Jag’s.

24. Kansas City Chiefs (last week: 26): They showed that they had a great draft class with all the rookies making big plays. Wow, Crennel has done a GREAT job on that Kansas City defense, also Dorsey and Jackson played very well. I think the running game was good as expected and they didn’t have any turnovers, but Cassel still need to continue to improve.

25. Carolina Panthers (last week: 21): I think it is time for the Panthers to give Clausen a chance. Moore looked flat and made a lot of bad decisions in a winnable game.

26. Denver Broncos (last week: 22): Wow, this team has talent but looked very flat. I think this team has a chance to do something if they can sharpen up their game.

27. Detroit Lions (last week: 28): If Stafford would not have gotten hurt the game would have been a win. Also I think that the catch by Calvin Johnson was a touchdown. I think once they get Stafford back they will be quite a difficult team to beat. Also that defense line created some pressure.

28. Oakland Raiders (last week: 25): Well, we now know that they are still the same old Raiders. The only good thing about their trip to Nashville was good play by Darren McFadden, who the Raiders need to start playing well.

29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (last week: 30): They played a decent game but should have played better against a Browns team that isn’t very good.

30. St. Louis Rams (last week: 31): I think Bradford shows a lot of promise and they played well against a team that was much better then they where.

31. Buffalo Bills (last week: 32): They kept the game close without a lot of talent on the team. I think the Bills can at lease be a little entertained by this team.

32. Cleveland Browns (last week: 29): I think it is a matter of time before Holmgren takes over. They looked very flat. I think they are on the right track to rebuilding; they are starting from ground zero.

I was right about Houston: At the end of preseason I said how I was so impressed with the Texans and how I thought Arian Foster could be a special player this year. I also said that the Colts would have to watch out. And the Colts lost to the Texans in week 1 and Foster ran for over 200 yards and gave the Colts their first loss of the season. In my playoff bracket I had Houston beating the Jets for a playoff spot but now the Texans have a chance to take the South.

Oakland hasn’t Changed: I didn’t agree with people when they said Campbell was an elite QB although I did think their defense would make strides this year and give the Raiders a chance in some games. Well, they where trampled against the Titans and gave up 38 points while the Oakland offense couldn’t keep up. Once again the problem was the receiving corps who couldn’t make anything happen. I thought the Raiders would at least improve, but they look like the same Raiders as last year. (can I make a prediction I made during the draft, that Ben Roethlisberger would be in Oakland very soon)

Cowboys look FLAT: At the beginning of the season I really liked the Cowboys, but at the end of preseason I was taking back my prediction that they would win the Super Bowl. After seeing Romo and his offensive line fall apart against the Texans I knew something was wrong. And what do you know; they lose the game because of a holding call against who else, but Alex Barron. The Cowboys need to get things in order or Phillips won’t be coaching them next season.

Brady’s back to lead the Troops and the Bengals have their usual Downfall: Last season Brady didn’t do as good as usual and everyone thought he was done. But I still thought he needed more time to heal and he proved it with a great game against a good Bengals defense. Also the Bengals (as some people where predicting) play totally flat and were blown out by a team which is worse then they are. So if the Bengals don’t want to continue their trend of good one year bad the next, they need to get their game together.

They weren’t kidding about Sam Bradford: Bradford did have 3 interceptions but two of them where on desperation plays where he through them up for grabs. Besides that he played pretty well.

Is it Time to give Vick a Chance? Michael Vick turned the Eagles game around and almost made a come back. Kevin Kolb meanwhile, made bad decisions and didn’t look sharp. Also another interesting thing…when Kolb was in the Eagles scored 3 points and that was off a turnover, while Vick (who wasn’t in much longer then Kolb), scored 17 and was on the edge of scoring 24. I think if the Eagles are smart they let Kolb, who doesn’t seem to be quite ready to lead the team, rest a few games from his concussion and let Vick see what he can do.

Will the Chargers Win the West? I do think they will sharpen up and do it, but Kansas City showed that they are not a team to be ignored. Also the Chiefs seem to have had an excellent draft class, with the electric McCluster scoring a Chiefs record 94 yard punt return for a TD, Arenas had a 54 yard punt return but barley got tackle by the punter, or that would have been a touchdown, plus he played well as the nickel cornerback, Tony Moeaki caught a touchdown pass, Lewis was solid at safety and Berry played great as well. I think that Arrowhead stadium could be a place to fear, like it was in the 90’s with Derrick Thomas, Joe Montana and Marcus Allen. Romeo Crennel showed that he can take any defense and make it look good. And Jammal Charles is proving to be the next Chris Johnson with a 56 yard TD run. All in all the Chiefs looked the most improved team in a division which was suppose to have a lot of teams on the rise, but Kansas City is the only one with a win.

Is Alex Smith still a Bust? Alex Smith had a descent season last year and many thought that he could finally start to develop into the QB that everyone thought he could be. But he didn’t have an impressive start and you have to start to question if last season was just a fluke. I know we can’t come to a conclusion to quickly, although he was drafted a year before Jamarcus Russell and he is already considered a bust. We will just have to wait and see, but he needs to at lease play descent, so that the 49ers can use the rest of the talent that they have collected, to win the division.

Should the catch by Calvin Johnson be ruled a TD: I think so. I know the rule is you have to keep possession the entire time, but everyone knew he caught it and in the Super Bowl the Saints had a similar catch, that was a catch, but he didn't have control on the way back up and they ruled it a catch. So if you are going to do favors for the Saints in the Super Bowl, you need to be fair and do the same thing for not only the Saints.

POWER RANKINGS

1. Indianapolis Colts (last week: 1): Through preseason they proved they have gotten better since last year and last year they where the best team in the league.

2. New Orleans Saints (last week: 3): They have been better then I thought on offense but worse then I thought on defense.

3. Green Bay Packers (last week: 5): If the defense can step up and play better then they did in the playoffs this team will be at the top of the rankings quite quickly.

4. Baltimore Ravens (last week: 4): Their defensive backs might be a little bad but they still have Ray Lewis and company which will not give defense’s time to throw, plus once Ed Reed comes back they won’t be too bad off. Also they added Houshmandzadeh so that will make this offense one of, if not the best offense in the league.

5. Dallas Cowboys (last week: 2): I liked them before the season but in preseason they didn’t look good. The offensive line was awful and Romo was getting mad way to quickly. They need to step it up.

6. Minnesota Vikings (last week: 6): I think Favre didn’t play great in preseason and they have a ton of injuries.

7. Cincinnati Bengals (last week: 10): I am not saying that they will be a great team or make the playoffs, but I do think they will start the season well.

8. New England Patriots (last week: 7): They look solid in preseason but losing Leigh Bodden and Ty Warren for the season will REALLY hurt.

9. San Diego Chargers (last week: 11): I think they can improve but as of now the offensive line isn’t great and the defense doesn’t look great either.

10. San Francisco 49ers (last week: 9): I think if Alex Smith can just play descent, this team will rocket up the rankings. Their defense is good.

11. Houston Texans (last week: 16): I was REALLY impressed with the Texans in preseason and if they can keep the defense improving and if Foster can come on as a star running back then this team is a playoff team.

12. New York Jets (last week: 8): I wasn’t impressed with Sanchez during preseason and as I said during the off-season everyone thought Ryan and Flacco would win the SB in their second year but both came up short. I think until Sanchez can control the game with his arm, the Jets have to stop thinking about Superbowl rings.

13. New York Giants (last week: 15): I wasn’t crazy about the Giants preseason although I do think Antrel Rolle proved he is a very good safety. I think they need to get the running game going more and get their linebackers going.

14. Atlanta Falcons (last week: 12): I think they could get a wildcard this year but that defense has to step up and put some pressure on the QB or the defensive backs are going to give up a ton of yardage and having to play the Saints twice will be hard.

15. Miami Dolphins (last week: 13): I think Henne has to do better then he did in the preseason for Miami to get a playoff spot, although I do think if you give the Dolphins a few years they will become an elite team.

16. Tennessee Titans (last week : 16): They have a young defense and they need to make a deal with CJ so he will be full steam ahead.

17. Philadelphia Eagles (last week: 14): I think the Eagles barley get the edge on the Redskins and that is because of that defense and a good offensive line. I also think Kolb needs to do better then he did in preseason or Michael Vick will be the starting QB before long.

18. Washington Redskins (last week: 19): I like what Shanahan is doing and I think if you give him sometime he will build a Super Bowl team before long.

19. Pittsburgh Steelers (last week: 18): When I first started writing this weeks edition of Power Rankings I really thought they could surprise people once Big Ben got back, but now I am hearing that Tomlin might not even start him once he comes back since the team isn’t too crazy about him right now. Could he somehow be in Oakland next season? If he did leave that would be the perfect fit.

20. Chicago Bears (last week: 20): I think the key to the season is Jay Cutler and I don’t like him under Mike Martz. I think he is better suited for a team that runs the ball a lot and where he can use his arm to get the ball deep of play action.

21. Carolina Panthers (last week: 23): They didn’t have a single offensive touchdown in preseason and if you don’t in the regular season they will be in BAD shape.

22. Denver Broncos (last week: 21): Yeah they lost Dumervil and other key players and yes that will hold them back, but I still think they manage to pull out a descent season.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars (last week: 27): I don’t think they’ll have a very good season and I do think Del Rio won’t be their next season, they still have Jones-Drew and that will keep them in games.

24. Arizona Cardinals (last week: 22): I though they had some hope with Lienart, although they did need to cut him to help their team come together, but without him this team is doomed. I mean who else is their? Derek Anderson already proved he can’t stay consistent.

25. Oakland Raiders (last week: 25): If Al Davis could just get out of the way I think this football team could be good, but as you have seen in the past, he always does.

26. Kansas City Chiefs (last week: 24): I think they could hop up the rankings if Weis can get Cassel going but until then nothing is gong to happen. To tell you the truth I am more impressed with the Chiefs defense, then their offense.

27. Seattle Seahawks (last week: 26): If Hasselback or Whitehurst don’t play good, this team could be bad.

28. Detroit Lions (last week: 29): I really think this team can start to get better and I like Stafford. I think Schwartz will get this defense half way presentable and watch out for that new Lions defensive line.

29. Cleveland Browns (last week: 30): I think the Browns simply need more talent on their team, but I do think that their small running game and having a veteran QB will help them this season.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (last week: 28): I barely gave the Browns the nod, just because they have a veteran QB and Mike Holgren. I do think though, that this team could surprise people, if Freeman can plays well.

31. St. Louis Rams (last week: 32): I really liked Sam Bradford in the preseason, although they need to find a way to keep him off the ground.

32. Buffalo Bills (last week: 31): CJ Spiller looks REALLY good, but they have no idea who to start at QB.

There are alot of changes for teams this year one is Florida’s new Quarterback John Brantley is taking over for Tebow’s Job. Now for some Hot Topics:

Can Ohio State's Terrel Pryor play up to his potential? I think Pryor can...but I think it will be up to if he will, I think he is very talented but he has to show more maturity and try not to make a play when nothing is open. I think he is my favorite to win the Heisman and the only person that is going to stop him is himself.

Can Alabama produce a repeat? I think they will. They are returning most of their players and they also had a good recruiting class. They still have their key players on offense and on defense they did lose a couple of guys but I think the only other team with enough veteran players to challenge them is Ohio State and I think Ohio State can do it...but I'm still not sold on the thought that Pryor will do awesome this year.

Who will come out as the elite QB's heading into the NFL draft? For once their are a TON of big, pro style QB's in college right now. If they do all end up coming out this year, the draft could be as good as the 1984 QB's draft.

Jake Locker, Sr, Washington, he not only has the size 6'3 230 pounds, arm and everything else you want, he also has a good teacher in his head coach.

Andrew Luck, Jr, Stanford, who is looking pretty good so far plus has size like the rest of this class 6'4 235 pounds.

Ryan Mallet, Jr, Arkansas, Needs to continue to develop, but he has the size 6'6 238 pounds, and arm to turn into a franchise QB.

Blaine Gabbert, Jr, Missouri, Gabbert looks like a colon of Mathew Stafford (even kind of looks like him) and he also has the big arm and tall size, 6'5, 235 pounds.

Christian Ponder, Sr, Florida State, Ponder has to continue to improve but he is another of the QB's with the size 6'3 225 pounds, plus he has this is his fourth year in college.

Now here is my most Pro ready player: Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa: Clayborn could have come out this year, he is ready to play pro football and this season will only help his already good draft status.

Player to Watch: Dion Lewis, RB, Pittsburgh, This player shocked the nation last year as a freshman. He wasn't on any of the recruiting lists as a good player, he wasn't even ranked on the top 100 runningbacks in New Jersey. He exploded last year and is looking like a future, if not present, Heisman candidate. He is just a remarkable back.

Underrated Team: Florida State, They have a new head coach and a great recruiting class, don't be surprised if they win the ACC.

Most Overrated team: Wisconsin, Every year they are suppose to do great things and every year they can't finish in the top 25.

Teams on the Rise and Teams on the Fall in the NFL

Here are a few teams I think are on the raise after watching the week three preseason games.

Houston Texans: They looked like a team to give the Colts a run for their money, if not win the division. They totally took Dallas apart. Also Adrian Foster looked great.

San Francisco 49ers: They have really impressed me in their preseason games and that defense looks like a top 5 defense. The offense did descent aswell.

Denver Broncos: I think they are a team that is once again flying under the radar. They looked sharp against the Steelers and Tim Tebow continues to improve. But we can't forget Orton who is looking like an elite QB in preseason, if he can lead this passing attack and open up the run, I think the defense can hold it's own and San Diego will have to play awfully good to get the West

Here are my teams that are not looking as good as I thought they would

Dallas Cowboys: They looked like they didn't know what they where doing against the Texans and Romo has already lost his temper and it is still only the preseason.

New York Jets: They need Revis to comeback and they need Sanchez to step his game up. Everyone knows this is a QB driven league and if your QB doesn't play good your toast.

San Diego: Wow I didn't think Jackson and McNeil would make this big of an impact. They haven't looked good in preseason and the rest of the AFC West is slowly but surly improving.

2010 Power Rankings: Preseason

Note: Some teams I rank higher than others might have a worse records then a team lower than them but some of the better teams have harder schedules.

1 Colts 14-2-0: I don't care who won the Super Bowl last year, but the Colts are the team to beat this year.

2 Cowboys 14-2-0: It is all about Tony Romo and his O-line. If the O-line holds and Romo play as good as he did during the regular season last year they have the NFC in their lap.

3 Saints 12-4-0: They will have to be able to play some stronger defense to beat Cowboys for the NFC. BTW, my NFC game of the year is Week 12, November 25, Saints vs. Cowboys.

4 Ravens 13-3-0: If the Ravens can find a way to improve their defensive backs then they are the AFC champs, if not Peyton and company will kill them.

5 Packers 12-4-0: If the Packers can get enough pressure on opposing teams then they will give the Cowboys and Saints a run for their money. I think this year in the NFC the big three will be Cowboys, Saints and Packers

6 Vikings 11-5-0: They're main focus of the season will be trying to hold off the Packers for the NFC North, and if their line doesn’t protect Favre they won't have him to help them for very long.

7 Patriots 11-5-0: I think the offense will have Brady back at full strength and the defense should also improve.

8 Jets 11-5-0: I think that a 11 win season will be very good for the Jets, I personally don't think they are as good as people think. I do think they are a playoff team but they definitely think they are not the top dog of the AFC.

9 49ers 11-5-0: I think it is all about Alex Smith this year, if he is good this is a playoff team to fear, if he is bad they will still win the division but won't get far in the playoffs.

10 Bengals 10-6-0: I think of all the playoff teams on here the Bengals have the hardest schedule. They will need to pull a few tricks out of the hat to get 10 wins.

11 Chargers 10-6-0: I think the loss of Jackson and McNeil will hurt them but not enough to keep them from the playoffs.

12 Falcons 11-5-0: Lucky for the Falcons they have a pretty easy schedule. I think they need the defense to play a little better before they can challenge for the NFC.

13 Dolphins 10-6-0: The Dolphins are a team I think are way under radar. They do have a hard schedule and they did lose Ferguson but they're offense will be unstoppable. With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams beating down the defense and Chad Henne and Brandon Marshall tarring up the field this offense will be something to see.

14 Eagles 10-6-0: They might have a new QB but this is a strong team and they won't put to much pressure on Kolb.

15 Giants 9-7-0: I think this is a good team that is cursed by being in the hardest division in the league.

16 Texans 8-8-0: The passing game is one of, if not the best in the league, they haven't been able to get a running game going, they haven't been able to stop the pass and they can't get enough pressure on the QB this season.

17 Titans 9-7-0: I think this offense will be unstoppable but this defense will not be that impressive.

18 Steelers 7-9-0: I think this could be a good team but with all of the stuff swirling around them right now I think this season will be a tough one, look for them next season though to be at Super Bowl shape again.

19 Redskins 7-9-0: I think Donavon will help them a lot this season but he can't get them to the playoffs.

20 Bears 6-10-0: I think the Bears are better than their record says but their season schedule is brutal.

21 Broncos 8-8-0: I think Orton will have a good season and the only thing stopping the Broncos from the playoffs is a weak defense and multiple injuries.

22. Cardinals 6-10-0: I think they will have a major setback as Leinart tries to get used to being a starter again. Plus, they lost a couple of good guys in free agency.

23. Panthers 5-11-0: This is another team that is half way decent but has a pretty hard schedule.

24 Chiefs 7-9-0: I think the Chiefs have a schedule in which they play teams that they can beat. I think if the offense line can hold and rookies Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey can start playing well this could be a 500. win team or even more.

25 Raiders 6-10-0: I think their defense will play better, but they still have no O-line and they have a young QB, young runningbacks and young wide receivers.

26. Seahawks 6-10-0: I think they might be able to pull out a little better record just because they have an easy division but there is still a good chance they don't. I'm not sold on Whitehurst and I think they gave too much for a QB who hasn't proven himself.

27 Jaguars 4-12-0: I think their first couple of games they will lose which means they will fire Del Rio and then the rest of the season will be tough for players with a new coach.

28 Buccaneers 4-12-0: I think the Buccaneers are building a good team but it is going to take a while for all the young talent to blossom.

29 Lions 3-13-0: This is a team that is building quickly and I think Stafford will prove to be the franchise QB that the Lions have been looking for.

30 Browns 2-14-0: I think the Browns have some talent on their team but they still don’t have the pieces to build a winning team.

31 Bills 1-15-0: I think the only thing that the Bills have to look forward to is Jack Locker, Andrew Luck and Ryan Mallet in the 2011 draft.

32 Rams 1-15-0: I think the Rams have a lot to do before they can start to compete. I like what Spagnuolo is doing but it is going to take a while to rebuild, although I do think Bradford is the first step in becoming competitive.

My "Chief" impressions of the Chiefs

Today we visited Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, MO. The Chiefs just moved into their new beautiful facility this year.

The offensive and defense running a two minute drill

The Chiefs are trying to turn around a team that has only won 10 games in their last 3 seasons which is one more then they won in 2006 when they won 9 games. From early looks the Chiefs seem to have one of their best draft classes in a long time. They drafted safety Eric Berry with the 5th overall pick and added on some good speedy players (speed being one of Kansas City's weak points) in the second round with Javier Arenas and Dexter McCluster. They also added Tony Moeaki who has been very impressive in camp. So now to our visit.

Impressions from the visit

-Rookie Dexter McCluster was very impressive in the workouts although he did drop another punt.

-Rookie Javier Arenas was also very impressive in his kick return workouts using his quick cuts to set defenders off balance.

-Chiefs former first round pick Tyson Jackson showed so fire in drill which had been lacking before.

-I wasn't impressed with Glenn Dorsey in his workouts as he only tried to just push the offensive lineman back instead of making some moves to get by him, although he did alright when they lined him up in the center of the defensive line.

-I didn't like the lack of fire that I saw in many of the players.

-Coach Todd Haley got in Dwayne Bowe's face a lot today for not playing full speed and not finishing routes off.

-Derrick Johnson had an impressive showing today picking off a pass in a offense vs. defense drill.

-Free Agent Rookie Bill Stull had a descent showing in camp, also Tyler Palko had some trouble handing off the backs as well as staring down one receiver, but he did show some impressive arm strength.

-Brandon Albert had some bad plays but he also had a good deal of good plays.

Madden NFL 11 Released Today! (Alex)

Madden NFL 11 was released today for Xbox 360, Ps3, Ps2, Wii, and PSP.

The biggest improvement to Madden was the "gameflow" feature which allows you to quicken up the game to half of the regular time it would take.

Tuesday the Bengals signed WR Terrell Owens to a 1 year deal worth 2 million.

I personally think that this was a BIG mistake by the Bengals to sign Owens...Why? Because this is the exact same scenario as in the NBA the Miami Heat. Owens and Ochocinco both want all the attention. So if the Bengals are already having problems with Ochocinco why do they sign another guy with the exact same problem?

The Top 5 Teams in the NFL in 2010

I am going to name, what I think, is going to be the top five teams in the NFL this year, as well as who I think the 12 playoff teams will be this season.

Last Year for the first time in 16 year the two top seated teams in the playoffs faced off in the Super Bowl, the last time this had happened was when the Cowboys played the Bills in 1993. The NFC Champion Saints came out on top as did the NFC Champion Cowboys did in 1993. But now the 2010 Season is here and it is time to pick who I think the 2010 Super Bowl Champion will be. So here first is my top five team.

One thing I thought I'd point out is that just because the team is on the top of the list doesn't always mean I think they will win the Super Bowl. Reason being is if they happen to meet a team in the playoffs that is set up perfectly to beat them but not to beat anyone else.

1. Indianapolis Coltls: This one is a no brainier, as long as Peyton is on this team they will continue to be one of the top five teams in the league. A lot of people might think that the Saints should be here since they beat the Colts but in my mind the Colts are a better team then the Saints. Yes, the Saints might have beaten them, but if you remember the Giants beat the Patriots in 2007 and everyone knows that the 2007 Patriots were one of the best teams ever and upsets can happen. I think the same with the Colts. As for this season, They still have Peyton, they have a good young defense and some more up and coming stars for Peyton to play with. I think one of the big reasons for this team to be at the top is that they have an established team and don't really need a certain player that hasn't proved himself to play good for them to win. They have a veteran team with not only old, but young veterans as well. As for anyone else that wants to be #1 they still need to prove that their team can win and the Colts have proved that for over a decade.

2. Dallas Cowboys: Some people are probably asking again why the Saints aren't here and here is a simple answer, the Cowboys beat the Saints in 2009 and have gotten better since then. A lot of people might think Tony Romo is running this team so why are they have, if you look Drew Brees was in the same position last year as Romo and look now Brees has a ring and is on the cover of Madden 11. I think this will be the Cowboys year, they broke their playoff losing streak and this year everyone on the team has another year of experience playing with each other. Some people are worried about the safety position and the left tackle spot but I like their replacement at left tackle and I think they have enough play makers on defense to not have to worry about the safety spot. They also now have a receiver for Romo in Austin and a powerful running due. I think the Cowboys will be the one to finish first in the NFC if not first in the League.

3. New Orleans Saints: Well, coming off a Super Bowl win usually one of the Super Bowl teams drop off for a season and of either of the two it would have to be the Saints. I don't think they will drop off that bad, but of the two (Colts and Saints) I think the Saints have a nice chance to do that. But if Drew Brees can keep his game up (if you remember he is on the case of Madden 11 so he gets the madden curse this year:-) the Saints should be fine. They still have most of their players coming back from the Super Bowl team which is good but they also had one of the worst pass defenses in the league and you can't continue to win for long if the defense doesn't step up. The Saints have to be able to prove this year that they can stay up top as a Super Power like the Colts and Patriots have.

4. Minnesota Vikings: I think if Favre comes back (which looks likely) this team will continue to dominate at all levels as they did last year. Some are consider about the Williams wall being suspended for four games to start the season but with J. Allen at RE it shouldn't be to bad if a problem. The Vikings are still upset how the referee's missed penalty's against the Saints which led to a Saints win in the NFC Championship and will be out to win it all this year.

5. Baltimore Ravens: Now as for the Ravens, they now have a veteran QB in Joe Flacco who has proved to be one of the premier QB's in the NFL and with 2 seasons under his belt and a star receiver in Boldin he is ready for the task. They also have a great running game, a fantastic defense and an offensive line which is one of, if not the best offensive line in the League. They have it all working for them and it is just a matter of time before they burst onto the seen as the team to beat.

The Ones that didn't make it:

New York Jets: Most people have the Jets on their top five list but I think that is way over rated. If you remember they didn't have the best record last season, Mark Sanchez throw more picks then TD's and they had to rely totally off the D and the running game. I think the Jets will do good this season but not good enough to make this list and mainly because of a young QB who is still settling into the NFL.

New England Patriots: Another team that almost made this list was the New England Patriots. I think after healing for a year Brady is back to normal and the offense will be unstoppable, but the only weak point that stopped them from making the list was the defense that is young and still needs some time to grow although I do think they will dominate the NFL again soon.

The Big Three

The Headlines in Basketball has been the teaming up of Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in South Beach to make the Heat an all-star team.

Yet in my opinion how can three guys that all have the ball the entire game, share all of a sudden? Everyone has been asking the same question but the Big Three have just said that they think they can all be super stars. They can say what they want but until we see Lebron and Dwyane share on the court, all of these comments by the Big Three, that they will be able to share are not worth a thing. My personal opinion is that the Heat will be a dominate team for year but not because the big three are there but because if they do start having fights and have to trade on of them they will be able to get a huge number of players for just one of these super stars.

I think if Lebron and Wade are able to share the court then this could be a good team but still we have to see them not only get along, but also work together. Just taking good players and putting them together won't win, they need to have good chemistry. Now there still is a chance this could work out to be one of the best teams in NBA history but there is a lot of things in the way that need to be sorted out.

Now for Lebron's choice of Miami. Lets start out by looking at each city that offered him a contract.

Los Angeles Clippers: If he went to the Clippers the supporting cast would not have been great but he would have made awesome rivalry games against Kobe Bryant and make some interesting situations in the NBA which would have been cool. On the other hand he won't have the team to win a lot of championships which was his goal in free agency.

New York Nets: This would have put him in a big city but besides that he would have a bad supporting cast and there wasn't really any reason to go to the Nets unless he thought he would have a chance at attracting some other good players.

New York Knicks: If Lebron wanted to go to New York then the Knicks would be a much better team in town to join. For one he has Amare Stoudmire who would have been able to compliment him very nicely and a big city in which to...show off I guess:-) The bad thing is that he wouldn't have been able to attract any more talent to help him out due to cap room.

Cleveland Cavaliers: If he wanted to be a legend like MJ and others it would be good to stay in Cleveland and prove he could win on his own. He could have also took a smaller contract (which would be highly unlikely) and bring in some help so that he could stay in his home state. The bad thing is that if he did go to Cleveland he would have wanted the extra money and in doing so give up all chances of becoming a multi championship winner.

Chicago Bulls: I think by far this would have been the best landing spot for Lebron. He could have had a GREAT supporting class and win tons of championships and also wear MJ's jersey which he would have prized. He would have made the Bulls a dominate force again and win Championships like he wanted to. As for the bad things in Chicago there really isn't any.

Miami Heat: If he can get past the problem of sharing the ball this would be a great place to go and defiantly the second best chance of winning championships. He also is able to team up with Wade and Bosh to make an all-star team. Although he killed what was called "His life purpose" by making there be only two dominate teams in the Lakers and the Heat. He always said he wanted to make an NBA like back in the 80's where you never know who was going to win. But all in all if he is able to get past the sharing problem they will win championships but he won't be as much of a legend as he would have been if he stayed in Cleveland or went to Chicago.

Here is my first Team Ratings of the upcoming 2010 Season. Occasionally I will update it as Changes are made to different teams.

1. Colts
The Colts (right now) are really the best team out there mainly because they have had the least roster changes.

2. Saints
The reason the Saints aren't at number one is mostly because they traded the most skill required position in the O-Line (the LT position). They traded LT Jammal Brown to the Redskins for a 3rd round pick which messes the whole line up. Although they have other good O-Lineman on the Team like Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks that still messes up the line a bit.

3. Vikings
I'm not sure if Favre can have a repeat season but if he does they could be one of the tops teams in the league. I think Percy Harvin will have a better season then last year(not saying he didn't have a great year last year).

4. Jets

The Jets are heading into this season with alot of momentum Sanchez will be in his Sophmore year so he may have some trouble but if he does just about as good as he did last year than they will have to rely on the running game alot like last year which brings up a problem about RB's. They lost Leon Washington and Thomas Jones but signed Ladainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene emerged last year so their Backs will be a little weaker than last year.

The Chargers lost their best receiver and their DT which could cause some trouble and they have to establish their new RB Ryan Matthews so it will be a little slow this year.

Nebraska Leaves the Big 12 and Joins the Big Ten. Nebraska will fit in with the Big Ten better than the Big 12 because Nebraska plays the Pro Style offense. But Nebraska will play Ohio State, Penn State, and Iowa so they will have a lot harder schedule.

Nebraska is the 2nd of 3 teams to switch divisions. Colorado and Utah switched to the Pac 10.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns had one of the biggest steals in the draft with Texas QB Colt McCoy, as he was drafted with the 21st pick of the third round. Another big add on for the Browns was Mike Holmgren who has gone to a Super Bowl with every team he has gone too.

Holmgren is also known as one of the best QB coaches in the league as he help Joe Montana, Steve Young, Brett Favre, as well as helping Matt Hasselback turn his career into a solid one.

With his knowledge of QB's he might finally help Cleveland get a franchise QB, which they have not had since Bernie Kosar. They have failed with every QB they've drafted since then, starting with Tim Couch and then Brady Quinn.

So now Holmgren has the job ahead of him to try to form 3rd round draft pick Colt McCoy into the Browns franchise QB. McCoy has all of the tools to be a successful QB under Holmgren's west coast offense.

The Browns have also signed veteran QB's Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, who can start for the team while Holmgren develops Colt McCoy.

The Browns had a few other small additions in free agency during the off-season. As for player lost, they didn't really lose many big players in the off-season, although they did add veteran corner Sheldon Brown in a trade with the Eagles. They also cut QB's Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn.

As for the draft they got Florida corner Joe Haden, Oregon Safety T. J. Ward, Tennessee RB Montario Hardesty, Arizona State OG Shawn Lauvao, Nebraska Safety Larry Asante, South Florida WR Carlton Mitchell and South Carolina DE Clifton Geathers.

Prediction: They will need a few years to solid up their team so look for them to have another top ten pick in the draft next year as they continue to build this program.

Predicted record: 3-13

Of these players I like Haden and Hardesty the most. I think Haden was under rated in the draft because of his slow 40 time, but if you notice he doesn't play that slow and I think he will be the next big lock down corner.

As for Hardesty he did a good job in Tennessee behind a bad line, plus he just seems to be the perfect build and skills to be a future stud running back as for Jerome Harrison, I'm not as sold on him as most are and I wouldn't be surprised if he had to share a decent amount of time with Hardesty.

Cincinnati Bengals

Last season was a good sign for the Bengals after continual injury in previous years the Bengals where finally able to put a halfway healthy team together and get a playoff berth.

One of the main problems last season was the lack of weapons Carson Palmer had to operate with. But the Bengals addressed the problem thoroughly in the off-season by adding free agent WR Antonio Bryant and then in the draft by adding WR Jordon Shipley, TE Jermaine Gresham and Kansas WR Dezmon Briscoe.

They also added Florida DE Carlos Dunlap, Wake Forest CB Brandon Ghee, Georgia DT Geno Atkins, Texas LB Roddrick Muckelroy, East Illinois OT Otis Hudson and Iowa State OG Reginald Stephens.

The Bengals got good value with each of their picks in the draft, which after a couple of years could pay off well. They didn't lose many players in the off-season opposed to last year where they lost a lot of good players.

Prediction: They may have had a good off-season but most of the progress they made in the off-season was through the draft which as many know take a while to pay off. I think they may start strong but I don't think they will be able to last all season. Plus another thing against them is a fairly hard schedule. So they have a descent season but won't be able to pull of the playoffs again.

Predicted Record: 7-9

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens big move this off-season was to trade for Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Anquan Boldin. There big need was a Wide Receiver and they got a good receiver at a low price. It is hard to find a pro bowl caliber receiver who's better suited to compete in the hard-hat style offense the Ravens like to run. Boldin is a tough, physical guy who prides himself on the way he rallies his teammates with his hard work ethic and competitive fire. Boldin will be able to totally turn around a receiving core that was one of the worst in the league last year although Joe Flacco put up good numbers.

They also added Donte Stallworth who was a standout with the Patriots but was suspended from the league all of last year after a DUI change that resulted in him running over someone while driving.

They also added Sergio Kendle and Terrence Cody to help get the Ravens defense back what it was in 2008. Surprisingly they where able to draft Kindle in the second round who was suppose to be drafted middle first round but instead they get him middle second round. Kindle will be able to add some needed pass rush while Cody can help get a small Ravens defensive line bigger.

They also added BYU TE Dennis Pitta, Oregon TE Ed Dickson and Utah WR David Reed to give Flacco more weapons as well as DT Arthur Jones who was suppose to be a first rounder until he suffered a season ending injury in 2009.

They didn't suffer any huge losses in the off-season although they did lose a few players. All in all they had one of the best off-season in the league.

Prediction: They now have the tools in place and expect them to win the NFC North and make a Super Bowl run as Flacco will be comfortable in his 3rd year.

Predicted Record: 13-3

Yesterday former restricted free agent O. J. Atogwe became an unrestricted free agent. He will most likely be most sought after by the Dolphins and Bears who desperately need safety help.

Tim Tebow was promoted to 3rd string QB on the depth chart after passing Bannister. This is a good sign for Tebow showing that he is progressing very quickly.

The Miami Dolphins traded Offensive Guard Justin Smiley to the Jacksonville Jaguars for an undisclosed pick.

Patriots Wide Receiver Wes Welker is improving quickly from his resent surgery.

Eagles newly acquired safety Marlin Jackson was injured during practice and is out for the season.

The Eagles just gave the news that they have changed their defense from the 4-3 to the 3-4 that will benefit their draft pick Brandon Graham but will not benefit the best player on their defense Trent Cole.

QB Ben Rothlisberger has returned to team practices after being suspended from all team activities.

The Jets have decided to move former 1st round pick (and soon to be a first round bust if he can't turn his career around) Vernon Goldston from OLB to defensive end which seems to be what Goldston really liked playing.

I have gotten sick with Brett Favre. Who does he think he is? Just because he's a soon to be Hall of Fame QB that doesn't mean he can make them hold off all their plans just for him and now he says that he will not retire if the Southern Miss Golden Eagles win the College World Series?!

Also about the soon to be Hall of Fame QB...He isn't anymore. Yes he had great stats this year but he had a great O-Line, Good WR's, and a great Defense. What does Defense have to do with it? I'll explain. A QB doesn't have to worry about throwing Interceptions because if he has a good "D" they will give the ball right back to him.

A lot of people I've heard said "Oh Brett Favre is making the WR core look great. How do you know? the WR core never had a Quarterback to throw to them. Unless you call Tavaris Jackson a QB which I don't. Now don't take me wrong I think Farve WAS a great QB but he isn't any more.

2011 NFL Draft

Well, now the the draft is over we get to look forward to next years draft. I wanted to talk about some players that I think will be the top prospects in the Nation come next April.

Now for my mock draft

No. 1: Buffalo Bills (2-14): Andrew Luck/QB/Standford: I think Locker is a better QB but Luck is thought to be a little more "Pro ready" and that will give him the edge.

No. 2: St. Louis Rams (3-13): A. J. Green/WR/Georgia: They will think about a defensive lineman but Green is too hard to pass up.

No. 3: Detroit Lions (4-12): Gabe Carimi/OT/Wisconson: They need someone to help Mathew Stafford out and Carimi is the model left tackle. I personally thought they should have drafted an offensive lineman this year but they don't pass on one next year.

No. 4: Cleveland Browns (5-11): Marcell Dareus/DE/DT/Alabama: The Browns need a big defensive player to plug their defensive front and Dareus can do that.

No. 5: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-11): Robert Quinn/DE/North Carolina: Some think he is the next Julius Peppers, so the Buc's pick Quinn and create one of the best young defensive lines in the league.

No. 6: Kansas City Chiefs (6-10): Anthony Castonzo/OT/Boston College: They considered Okung this year but took Berry but they won't pass up on a future franchise left tackle this year.

No. 7: Seattle Seahawks (6-10): Cameron Heyward/DE/Ohio State: With the decline of Kerney they get someone to replace him and make that defense a force.

No. 8: Jacksonville Jaguars (6-10): Jake Locker/QB/Washington: Hard decision between Mallet and Locker but they go with the potential of Locker of the pro readiness of Mallet.

No. 9: Denver Broncos (6-10): Adrian Clayborn/DE/Iowa: The Broncos need bigger men on the defensive line and Clayborn is the perfect 3-4 end.

No. 10: New England Patriots (from: Oakland (7-9): Marvin Austin/DT/North Carolina: They need to use this pick they got from Richard Seymour to make that defensive line bigger.

Here is my top five players for next years draft.

1. A. J. Green/WR/Georgia: He is the next Calvin Johnson that's all I need to say.

2. Jake Locker/QB/Washington: Andrew Luck may be more pro ready but Locker has the potential to be Great.

3. Adrian Clayborn/DE/Iowa: Some people think he doesn't have the work ethic to be ranked this high but he looks like a great NFL style 3-4 DE.

4. Robert Griffin/DE/North Carolina: He is considered the next Peppers. Although remember the last time North Carolina had a good DE and DT coming out the DT ended up being a bust because everyone watched Peppers. So will Griffin or Austin be a bust?

5. Andrew Luck/QB/Stanford: Everyone likes him more then Locker but remember that everyone was watching Gerhart and that made it easy for Luck. I'm not saying he's bad but I think he isn't as good as Locker.

I think Bradford is a good QB and the Rams made the perfect choice.

No. 2 Detroit Lions

Ndamudong Suh/DT/Nebraska

Grade: A

The Lions liked him all along and got their anchor for their defensive line.

No. 3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Gerald McCoy/DT/Oklahoma

Grade: A

McCoy will fit perfect in the Tampa 2 defense and he reminds some of Warren Sapp

No. 4 Washington Redskins

Trent Williams/OT/Oklahoma

Grade B+

I think Williams has more potential of being a star then Okung does but Williams is a bit of a project while Okung can start right a way with out giving it a second thought.

No. 5 Kansas City Chiefs

Eric Berry/FS/Tennessee

Grade A

Berry is the next safety to join the ranks of Palumalu, Reed and Sanders. Everyone knows that if your defense is dominate you usually have a dominate safety. The Chiefs picked Berry over Okung because Berry could change the Chiefs defense immediately into a formidable group.

No. 6 Seattle Seahawks

Russel Okung/OT/Oklahoma State

Grade: A+

It was a steal to get Okung here. Everyone thought he wouldn't make it past Washington but he did and the Seahawks have to be thrilled.

No. 7 Cleveland Browns

Joe Haden/CB/Florida

Grade: B-

I thought they should have gotten a play maker like Earl Thomas and although his poor combine performance didn't effect my view on him I still thought that the CB position should have been addressed later and that Thomas was the pick here.

No. 8 Oakland Raiders

Rolando McClain/ILB

Grade: A

The reason I am giving the Raiders an A is because they finally drafted a truly talented player instead of reaching for one who is only a body builder. All in all I think McClain is the perfect player for the Raiders and will fit in well.

No. 9 Buffalo Bills

C. J. Spiller/HB/Clemson

Grade: B+

I think Spiller will be a good player but still they either needed Jimmy Clausen or an offensive tackle. What is the use of drafting a running back if their is nothing to run behind.

No. 10 Jacksonville Jaguars

Tyson Alualu/DT/California

Grade: C

I think they badly needed a DT but Alualu is a reach here. They should have traded down and got some much needed pick then draft him. In my personal option I thought they should have jumped on the chance to get Earl Thomas.

No. 11 San Francisco 49ers

Anthony Davis/OT/Rutgers

Grade: B-

Davis is a project and the 49ers need help now. I would have picked a more polished Offensive lineman like Brian Bulaga since Bulaga can play both Right and Left tackle well. As for Davis he is more set up to be a left tackle which is something the 49ers didn't need since they already have a good left tackle.

No. 12 San Diego Chargers

The Titans got the most NFL ready DE in the draft and he can be an immediate impact for the Titans and help rebuild a once dominate defense.

They needed to upgrade their offensive line and did so. I think in a couple of years Pouncey will be one of the best centers in the league.

They needed a pass rusher but they decide to go with a pure talented defensive player in Weatherspoon. He is the most intelligent Linebacker in the draft, has good character, was a defensive captain for 4 years at Missouri, He can give the defense a block in the middle and be a leader for that Falcons defense.

The latest draft new is that the Pittsburgh Steelers are shopping 2 time Super Bowl Champion QB Ben Roethlisberger. They called the Rams, 49ers, Raiders, Bills and Browns but the only team in that list I really see having a possibility trading for Big Ben is the Oakland Raiders. Oakland has shown that they are not as worried about Off-field issue's as other teams are. Also he would fit the rough and tough mold of a Raider. He fits the Raiders perfectly and he wouldn't have to worry about his incident if he went to Oakland. May personal opinion is that Big Ben will be a Raider before the draft is finished so don't be surprise if Big Ben is in Black and Silver next season.

Another rumor is that the Browns are interested in trading for the No. 1 overall pick from the St. Louis Rams so that they can draft QB Sam Bradford. This would be a good trade for both teams. On the Rams point of view they get more picks and still can get Jimmy Clausen, who they like as well. As for the Browns they their franchise QB and can have him train under Jake Delhomme.

The Key pick in the draft at this point is the No. 5 pick of the draft which belongs to Kansas City. If KC goes Berry then a few teams that didn't think they'd get any offensive lineman at their pick will draft O-line instead of anything else. While if they pick an O-lineman the teams would have to pick someone else which would affect the later picks in the draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles just traded their long time starting QB Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins for the No. 34 pick in this years draft and either another second or third in next years draft. McNabb was drafted with the No. 2 pick overall in the 1999 draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

When going into College only Syracuse and Nebraska offered him a scholarship. He was leaning towards going to Nebraska because he relished the thought of being coach by Tom Osborne. He finally picked Syracuse because he wanted to prove he was a pocket passer and Nebraska didn't use their QB's in the pocket very often.

He was redshirted his freshman year and then had a brilliant career starting every game for the next four years. He was elected Big East player of the Decade and lead Syracuse to the Orange Bowl in his senior year.

McNabb was the second QB chosen in the draft behind Tim Couch in a draft that was thought to be the best QB draft since the famous 1982 draft. But out of the 5 QB's draft in the top 12 that year only McNabb and Daunte Culpepper went on to succeed and in 2006 McNabb was the only QB who was with the same team that drafted him.

His first start ever was against the Washington Redskins on November 14 1999 when McNabb led the Eagles to a 35-28 win. He was the first rookie quarterback to start for the Eagles since 1972.

In 2000 McNabb finished second in the voting for NFL MVP behind Marshall Faulk. He led the Eagles to the Playoffs that year and in the first game they took down the favored Buccaneers 21-3 before losing to the Giants 20-10. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2000 and was named the Most Valuable Player of 2000 by CBS Sports.

In 2001 McNabb led the Eagles to win the NFC East and led the Eagles to the NFC Championship where they lost to the highly favored Rams. McNabb earned his second trip to the Pro Bowl in 2001 and broke the Eagles record with 2 consecutive 3000 yard seasons.

In week 11 of the 2002 season McNabb was sacked by Cardinals Adrian Wilson and broke his fibula in three places. He was sidelined until the playoff where he led the Eagles to a 20-6 win over the Falcons. In the NFC Championship a still hurting McNabb was not able to lead the highly favored Eagles to a win over the Buccaneers with a 27-10 loss.

In 2003 dispute a slow start and one of the worst wide receiving core's in the NFL he led the Eagles to the NFC Championship again. During the game McNabb had to leave because of injury after being hit while laying on the ground by linebacker Will Witherspoon. The Eagles lost the game 14-3 for their third consecutive loss in the NFC Championship.

In 2004 the Eagles majorly upgraded their receiving core by adding wide receiver Terrel Owens. McNabb throw for 31 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions in the season with help from Terrel Owens who caught 14 touchdown passes. They finished the season 13-3 and was the No.1 seed in the NFC going into the playoffs. After wins against the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons in which Owens did not play in due to injury the Eagles advanced to Super Bowl XXXIX.

The Eagles now where set to play the 2001 and 2003 Super Bowl Champion Patriots led by young quarterback Tom Brady. McNabb how ever was never able to get things going with 3 interceptions although he also through for over 300 hundred yards and 3 touchdowns. The final interception came on a final second Hail Mary which ended the game with a 21-24 defeat.

In 2005 everything went wrong, Terrel Owens said he refused to speak to McNabb, then McNabb was injured half way throw the season and finished the 6-10 season on injured reserve.

In 2006 McNabb again was sidelined by injury for the season after a 5-5 start. Also the Eagles lost Wide Receiver Terrel Owens after a fight with Donavan McNabb. But backup quarterback Jeff Garcia won 5 of the remaining 6 games to led the Eagles to a 10-6 finish and won the NFC East Division. The Eagles beat the Giants in their first game but then went on to lose to the Saints in the Divisional round 27-24.

In 2007 Injury sideline McNabb again after a poor season. After a loss on Monday night to the Dallas Cowboys Pam Oliver reported that McNabb would not return to the Eagles in 2008. McNabb how ever stated that he would be in Philadelphia in 2008 and that 2007 second round draft pick Kevin Kolb would have to wait a little longer before taking the starting job.

In 2008 many controversial comments led to question of who was the Eagles starter. But McNabb showed he wasn't done with a great first game. He stayed solid for awhile then he had an awful game against the Bengals in a 13-13 tie where he throw a career high three interceptions. In the following game McNabb was benched after a bad start against the Ravens. This was the first time besides injury he had been benched. They Eagles decided to start McNabb the next game on Thanksgiving day where he rebounded in a 48-20 win over the eventual NFC Champion Cardinals. In the final game the Eagles faced the Cowboys in a game which who ever won would advance to the playoffs. McNabb led the Eagles to a 44-6 blowout of the Cowboys this was now the 6th time in 9 years McNabb had led the Eagles to the playoffs. In the NFC Wildcard game against the Minnesota Vikings McNabb led the 26-14 win. In the Divisional Playoff game the Eagles beat their NFC East rival and No. 1 seed in the NFC the New York Giants 23-11 to advance to the NFC Championship. But after a great comeback by the Eagles the Arizona passing attack responded with a last second touchdown in a 32-25 win over the Eagles.

In 2009 the Eagles further upgraded their receiving core by adding Missouri star wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to the current core with rising wide receiver DeSean Jackson and veteran Kevin Curtis. In the first game, after throwing for 2 touchdown and running for another, McNabb broke one of his ribs that kept him out in the following game against the eventual Super Bowl Champion Saints in which Kevin Kolb was named starter in McNabb's absents. Kolb did a good job but the Eagles could not keep up with the Saints passing attack. But in week 3 Kolb was able to led the Eagles to a win against the Kansas City Chiefs. The following week was the bye week and the following week McNabb was able to return to the starting lineup. Once again in the season final the who ever won the game won the division but the Eagles where not able to beat the Cowboys and fell to 11-5. In the first game of the playoffs the Eagles had to play the Cowboys in a rematch in which McNabb was not able to get anything going against the Cowboys in a 34-14 loss. After the game Head Coach Andy Reid stated that McNabb would be the starting Quarterback the next season.

In the off-season Coach Reid was a believer in McNabb but the front office decided to trade McNabb to the division rival Redskins.

So McNabb, who could some day be a Hall of Famer, now ends a brilliant career in Philadelphia and starts a new one in Washington.

Butler advances to their First Title Game

(5) Butler beats (5) Michigan State 52-50 in a last second thriller to give Butler their first ever Championship appearance.

Gordon Hayward leads the way with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

With the score 50-49 Michigan State's Draymond Green was driving to the basket when Gordon Hayward stepped in and made Green take and awkward shot which missed and was rebounded by Butler forcing Michigan State to foul. They hit both free pointers and finished off the game 52-50.

After being down by 3 with a minute left in the first half Shelvin Mack hit a 3 pointer to tie it at the half. In the second half Butlers offense slowed down but rebounded and their defense was great.

Michigan State's problem was foul trouble as their most electrifying player that game was Green who fouled out at the end of the game.

27 year old Butler coach Brad Stevens will now lead his Butler Bulldogs into the National Championship to play the winner of the West Virginia/Duke game.

KU falls to Northern Iowa

Northern Iowa upset the No. 1 seed in the tournament Kansas. Northern Iowa lead though the entire game but KU came back with in one but then a 3 pointer with 30 seconds left sealed the deal for Northern Iowa. This is the first time since 2004 that a No. 1 seed in the tournament has lost in the second round. Kansas was considered one of the best teams in this decade but couldn't get past the size and 3-point shooters of Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa will not advance to the sweet sixteen for the first time in their history.

Cardinals Sign Porter To 3 Year Deal (Alex)

The Cardinals Signed LB Joey Porter to a 3 year deal worth 17.5M.

They will use Porter to replace LB Karlos Dansby who went to Miami.

Although he has plenty of talent he won't last long due to age but he will be a good fill in player till they get a replacement.
